Excess consumption of artificial trans-fat contributes to growing rates of cardiovascular disease, disability and death in Ethiopia and around the world. Be part of the solution by highlighting ways to address this growing challenge through your reporting!
HDAMA will award up to five fellowships to outstanding journalists with a passion for covering artificial trans-fat in food. Fellows will receive 500USD to complete their reporting, as well as continued coaching and support accessing national and international data and contacts, among other benefits.
Applicants must submit by January 28, 2019, a proposal for a reporting project on artificial trans-fat in food. The project should explore, in some way, the challenges posed by excess consumption in Ethiopia, as well as possible solutions, including policy changes in line with the World Health Organization’s call to eliminate artificial trans-fat from the global food supply by 2023. Each proposed story should be clear and meaningful to the journalist’s target audience. Applicants will be invited to participate in an upcoming training on artificial trans-fat in food.
