ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive, recover, and rebuild their lives. The IRC has been working in Ethiopia for over 15 years implementing emergency and resilience programming in the areas of WASH, education, livelihoods, reproductive health, gender-based violence, and child and youth protection and development. In 2017, IRC provided services to approximately 405,200 refugees in 20 camps and more than one million vulnerable Ethiopians in seven regions.
The IRC started its humanitarian intervention in Gambella region in 2011. Over the past years it has implemented various Emergency Rapid Response and development projects benefiting both host and refugee communities. Currently the IRC Gambella, under its refugee interventions, is undertaking a comprehensive WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) projects to contribute to efforts to enhance the living conditions and wellbeing of population of concern hosted across five refugee camps of Gambella region (Full WASH packages in Pugnido, Pugnido II, and Tierkidi refugee camps, Water supply in Kule refugee camp and water production for Nguenyyiel refugee camp).
SCOPE:
Under the direct supervision of Supply Chain Manager, the IT Assistant is responsible for making sure that all IT equipments are utilized with respect to the IRC IT Policy; give a technical support for all the IRC offices in Gambella town and the Camp sites for their IT problems, Configure emails on outlook, Printers and network shared folders on users’ computer. Install antivirus updates and windows security updates to all the computers in the Field Office. Carry out the IRC IT computer Audit reporting periodically using the IRC computer auditing software.
Major Responsibilities
Train users and brief new staff on IRC IT Policy and follow-up the implementation of the policy.
IT Assistant makes sure IRC standard software is installed on IRC Computers.
Install, clean, and repair computer and/or related IT Equipments.
Assist the Gambella Field office staff on any IT related issues.
Install antivirus definition periodically, when he received Updating CD from Addis Ababa Office. Make sure that all the computers have an updated antivirus and windows security updates.
Perform frequent checks on IRC machines to make sure all are working well and virus free.
Assist users to remove virus from their computers and external storages.
Assist users how to take backup from their system.
Perform weekly windows backup for the file server.
Configure outlook for email use, brief staff on how to reset their email passwords and register for password self service.
Connect newly installed computers in the network. Install network printers and map network drives for sharing of network resources.
Assist/Orient computer users in how to use new Software, hardware and network use.
IT Assistant has to communicate with IT staff in Addis Ababa before major maintenance is performed.
Report regarding all IT issues should be submitted every week to IRC IT Addis office.
Antivirus and Autopatcher update log sheet should be filled and sent to Addis office after completely updating all the computers in the field office.
