Main Duties:
1. To be responsible for all research activities in the country including qualitative and quantitative research
2. Manage Research Officer and support their professional development within the organization.
3. Oversee and monitor the data collection process in the field and
4. be willing to travel for fieldwork
5. Working on a wide range of research projects and employing a range of different research methodologies (if undertaking research internally);
6. Write the research design, draft research instruments, such as questionnaires, and discussion guides:
7. Conducting, or commissioning then analysing, pre and post evaluation survey, in-depth interviews with members of the public and large-scale data sets;
8. Ensuring that research is conducted within a set time frame.
9. Providing information as well as delivering presentation to the project management and production team.
10. Producing both written and oral reports responding to external and internal research enquiries from colleagues.
11. Explaining complex ideas and findings in a way that can be easily understood by the project team as well as other stakeholders;
12. Keeping up to date with developments in policy and social issues, as well as qualitative and quantitative research methods;
13. Recruit and manage enumerators and data entry clerks
14. Work with the research team in London to produce high quality research outputs
REPORTS TO: Senior Project Manager, Ethiopia; with Technical Line to Research Manager in BBC Media Action HQ in London
DURATION: 4 months (with possible extension)
CONTRACT: Local terms and conditions. Only eligible for Ethiopian
nationals or those legally able to work in Ethiopia
