Project Background
The focus of the Sport for development Africa is regional project to be implemented in Ethiopia on promoting vocational training and developing modules to increase and improve the employ-ability of young people through sport. This is implemented in particular through the Sport for Development approach Sport 2 Work, whose aim is to prepare schoolchildren and young entrepreneurs for a successful existence in the labor market. Sport can make access to vocational training easier and more attractive. In the context of sports activities, young people can also learn skills relevant to the labor market and gain valuable practical and initial work experience.
The Sport for Education approach is to be anchored in the curricula of the national Federal Agency for Vocational Education and Training in Ethiopia (FTA, Federal TVET Agency).
Objective of the Project
The implementation of Sport for development in Ethiopia is thus intended to achieve synergies with the objectives of the TC projects "Capacity Building in the Education Sector" and "Qualification and Employment Prospects for Refugees and the Host Population". Students* and teachers* of vocational schools and surrounding communities benefit from the individual S4D training units, the established and sustainable managed sports infrastructure and other sports activities
Major Expected Output
Development of a strategy for anchoring the SFE (Sports for Development) concept with specific Gender focus (gender equality) and Safeguarding in Sport and Sport for Development in the Ethiopian vocational training sector in close cooperation with the Federal TVET Agency, the national TVET Training Institute in Addis Ababa (Federal TVET Institute (FTVETI)) and selected TVET Colleges (scaling-up).
General Duties and Responsibilities
Frontieri is looking for a highly motivated professional to act technical experts for the above project. Her/his tasks are in particular:
- Development and process support for Sport for Education concept implementation with focus on gender/inclusion/safeguarding in sport and Sport for development
- Development of qualification packages in the field of Sport for educating for the training of trainers (master trainers) and implementation of TOT
- Development and implementation of a concept for standardized training and certification of in-house trainers
- Specialist expertise in vocational training, particularly in the areas of soft skills for employ-ability/life skills and sport for development
- Cooperation with the economy; reform partnerships
- Do-no Harm/ conflict sensitivity/ prevention of violence and peace-building through sport in the context of flight (Sport for Development and Peace)
- Protection of children and youth rights/ Safeguarding in Sport and Sport for development
- (child rights-based sport for development approach)
Education
University degree (/master/bachelor) in economics or social sciences or vocational education, peace research/conflict research, gender studies
Language
Very good written and spoken language skills in English, (C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)/ sufficient language skills in Amharic or Somali or Arabic.
General Work Experience
5 years of professional work experience in the vocational training sector /in the private sector/economy/ peace and security/flight/displacement sector/ gender equality /sport for development sector
Regional Experience
3 years of experience in the Horn of Africa region, 1 year of experience in Ethiopia
Development Cooperation Experience
3 years of experience in development cooperation
