WFP Ethiopia is working with the government and other humanitarian partners to strengthen the resilience of Ethiopia’s most vulnerable population and to chart a more prosperous and sustainable future for the next generation. The Country Office also supports programmes that use food assistance to empower women, transform areas affected by climate change and keep children in school. It aims to contribute to Ethiopia’s five-year development agenda, the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), through which the Government combats food insecurity.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:
The World Food Programme is Addis Ababa Country office is currently seeking to fill an internship position. The food sector is supporting three operators (WFP, JEOP and NDRMC) in reporting on food and cash response in the country, to inform stakeholders on dispatches/ transfers and distribution of assistance. In 2019, the food sector is planning to start providing reports and information products at woreda level. This will involve standardizing of food sector datasets and integrate the pcodes in all the reports. The sector has staff with the relevant skills in data management but will require additional capacity in the next 8 months during the roll-out of the pcoding systems, which will involve sensitizing partners including the NDRMC on the p coding system and providing data entry support. The pcoded datasets will enable the food sector to timely prepare and disseminate related reports including dashboards, operational maps and the 4W updates in 2019. This will also enable the food sector to provide woreda level reports of achievements and compare with the people in need (PIN) and the targets in the Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO)
JOB PURPOSE:
The Volunteer/Intern will be under the Food Cluster Coordinator. He/She will enhance data management for the food cluster and support in producing regular updates on key sector activities including dashboards and meeting minutes and catering in the specific duties and responsibilities:
The duration of assignment cannot be more than 8 months. Up on onboarding successful candidate will be given a one-month trial period and offered a Volunteer contract, then the contract will be converted to an intern depending on demonstrated successful performance, adaptability and agility.
