For more information on SNV’s operations, visit our website: www.snvworld.orgSNV Ethiopia is looking for dynamic, experienced, talented, energetic, flexible, open and ready to learn candidates for the position of Value Chain Advisor (Pulse and Cereals), for its Feed the Future: Livelihoods for Resilience Activity (GRAD II Project) which is a 5-year USAID funded project being implemented by a consortium members led by CARE including REST in Tigray, ORDA in Amhara and CARE and Agri Service Ethiopia in SNNPR. It is operational in 27 woredas since 2017 with the goal to enable 97,900 PSNP households to graduate from the PSNP with resilience.
The role
The successful appointee will have access to start-up resources and some ongoing support, and will be encouraged to apply for his/her own skills, knowledge and experience. This position is fully responsible to lead the Pulse and cereal value chains development activities including market development, market linkages, market intelligence and direct business development support for sustainable markets; facilitate business linkages among private sectors, cooperatives, unions and farmers groups that contribute to increasing production, income and employment; work closely with partner organizations to identify and analyses value chain and market system constraints and propose market based solutions to address these constraints.
This is a full-time; fixed term appointment with possible continuity depending on performance and availability of funds. SNV has a competitive salary and benefit packages, which will be determined based on the candidate background competency and historical.
The person
Applicants should possess Master’s degree (or equivalent) qualifications and requirements in relevant disciplines (Agri business, agricultural marketing, agricultural economics, agronomy and other related fields); with 8 to 10 years of experiences in value chain development; capacity building; facilitation of multi-stakeholder processes, farmer organization strengthen, organizational learning, change processes, and strategy formulation; Sound knowledge of marketing of agricultural commodities and market systems analysis; Knowledge of local, national and international pulse and cereal trade systems and market linkages for the advantage of the poor in practice; familiar with agricultural sector policies and national strategies, functioning of government/ public sector, private sector and farmers organizations; recognized expertise in working as an advisor and process facilitator to plan, implement and monitor input and output marketing strategies; good experience in facilitating stakeholder forums, business and market linkages, working with sectorial associations and strengthening of cooperatives.
