ABOUT US
GOAL has been working in Ethiopia since 1984, implementing a range of multi-sectoral development and humanitarian programmes responding to sudden-onset and protracted crises. GOAL works with the most vulnerable groups – primarily children under five, pregnant and lactating women, street-connected children and youth, refugees, internally displaced people, and drought-affected pastoralist, agro-pastoralists and smallholder farmers. We are currently operational in more than 40 Woredas across seven Regions of the Ethiopia. GOAL works closely with communities and local government to prepare for and respond to crises and build resilience for longer-term sustainable impacts. GOAL Ethiopia's major funders are USAID/ OFDA, ECHO, BPRM, Irish Aid, UNOCHA, and other UN Agencies.
Since 2017, GOAL has been one of the primary humanitarian agencies responding to the displacement crises in Ethiopia, operating a large-scale multi-sectoral response across more than 11 Zones in Oromiya, SNNPR, Benishangul Gumuz and Amhara. Interventions include: the treatment of acute malnutrition, mobile health activities, ensuring access to sanitation and water supply facilities, distribution of cash, shelter and non-food items, and psychosocial support.
ABOUT THE ROLE
GOAL Ethiopia is looking for a highly experienced individual for the position of Psychosocial Support Officer to strengthen the psychosocial protection of Internal Displaced Peoples (IDPs) in particular migrant children (in family or unaccompanied), women, other vulnerable groups through the implementation and dissemination of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and other protocols.
ABOUT YOU
You'll be an experienced Psychosocial Support Officer and working in assessing the psychosocial needs of IDPs in the target location participants by identifying, documenting and analysing the needs of children, women and other vulnerable groups and Respond to the identified needs by providing direct psychosocial support services. The Psychosocial Support Officer is primarily responsible for the provision of psychosocial support services to individuals identified with trauma or distress, as well the provision of training on basic psychosocial counselling to community volunteers. The position holder works to strengthen the psychosocial protection of Internal Displaced Peoples (IDPs) in particular children (in family or unaccompanied), women, and other vulnerable groups, through the implementation and dissemination of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and other PSS protocols, under the technical supervision of Senior PSS Officer and coordination of Zonal level Programme Coordinator.
· BA degree in psychology, counseling, sociology or social work, or other related qualification
· At least 3 years of experience in the same/similar role in another organization or association
· Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken (English, Oromiffa and Amharic)
· Demonstrated technical expertise in psychosocial crisis management and support in different international humanitarian contexts.
· Experience in working with women, children, specific needs groups and case management programs.
· Experience of case management
· Expertise in child protection & GBV protection principles desirable
· Excellent communication and listening skills, capacity to build relationships with IDPs;
· Strong aptitude to teamwork and flexibility; dynamic and proactive attitude
· Excellent and proven ability to adapt to difficult, challenging and stressful situations;
· Good organizational skills and capacity to work independently, if necessary and/or required;
· Integrity, professionalism and expertise in processing reports and questionnaires;
· Ability to understand the cultural context of the community, local language, and use that culture as an input for community mobilization.

Remuneration & Benefits:
Salary Birr 10,983.00 per month.
Transportation Allowance - 10% of monthly salary.
Hardship Allowance: 30-50% of monthly salary, according to the assigned location.
Medical Allowance - Birr 6500/annum (will be added in your monthly salary)
Pension - as per the government pension scheme (11% from the employer and 7% from the employee).
