Background
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Resource Management Officer and the direct supervision of the ICT Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for providing daily technical support and troubleshooting of all computer systems with consideration to the needs and requirements of the mission.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
In particular, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
1. Assist in the installation, operation and administration of network components, which will include Cisco Routers, ASA Firewalls and Switches among others.
2. Manage the ticketing system to ensure that all helpdesk queries are answered appropriately via email, telephone call or in person.
3. Install, configure and upgrade Servers, Desktops and Laptop Computers and software.
4. Managing and maintaining the Office’s communication systems/equipment including IP PABX, VoIP, Telephone lines, Video Conferencing, Internet access and all other communication related matters.
5. Develop and provide training to all ICT users to ensure productive use of existing and new systems developed.
6. Develop, when needed, software for automating the tasks of various departments as well as testing and suggesting new packages, which can improve the overall efficiency of the mission.
7. Install and relocate the unit’s hardware and coordinate equipment servicing.
8. Carry out technical troubleshooting and assist with the configuration the Tele-radiology IT infrastructure
9. Provide technical support and troubleshooting of bio-data and system errors for PACS systems and Teleradiology applications databases and servers.
10. Secure the implementation of standard IOM ITC policies and guidelines, with regards to network systems, IT security, software licensing, telecoms and ITC procurement.
11. Ensuring data and system integrity by setting up and administrating IT security systems: anti-virus, backup routines, access controls, firewall and physical security.
12. Develop and implement when necessary, ITC training to all end users to ensure productive use of the IT and Telecommunications resources for staff.
13. Implement the in-house development of required database systems to support day-to-day operations.
15. Ensure the required performance and stability of network services and servers (LAN, WAN, Messaging, Internet and VSATs connectivity, VPN, etc.), to prevent and minimize downtime or service interruptions.
16. Providing IT/Communications related guidance to other country missions in the region as required.
17. Making recommendations in the purchase and maintenance of IT/communications equipment of the mission.
18. Maintaining appropriate maintenance contracts for all IT/Communication equipment.
19. Maintain updates to the technical documentation for the voice and data networks.
20. Maintaining necessary documentation for system maintenance and support procedures in the mission.
21. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
University Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications and extensive progressively responsible technical experience.
Experience
A minimum of Six years of experience in LAN/WAN networking environment with ability to design and configure networks.
Working knowledge of: Windows Server 2008/2012 software in a multi-site environment, Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, TCP/IP Protocol, AD, DHCP, DNS, WINS, Cisco Router Configuration, Windows 8 & 10 administration MS Office 2013 and MS Office 365.
Experience with configuring and troubleshooting HP, Lenovo, Ricoh, Kyocera and Siemon equipment.
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification and/or Cisco Certifications an added advantage.
Experience in working in an International Organization.
Languages
· Thorough knowledge of spoken and written English and Amharic is required
· Knowledge of other local languages will be an asset.

In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
