The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Addis Ababa is looking for a highly qualified person to work under its Staff Health unit
Position: Staff Health Administrative Assistant 1 (with Medical/Health Background)
Main duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Staff Health Officer in the implementation, coordination and monitoring of the ICRC staff health strategy
Assist the Staff Health Officer in organizing health awareness sessions and events for staff and dependants
Ensure that standard ICRC procedures concerning accidents and medical cases are respected at all times
Assist in the follow up of occupational and non-occupational accident cases
Assist and follow up staff who may need immediate health attention
Receive and analyse all medical bills from national staff and their dependents
Check that medical bills are genuine while checking consistency between the prescription and the bill and ensure the beneficiaries are registered with the ICRC.
Prepare and submit medical invoices to the finance department for reimbursement and file copies of medical bills and cover pages in each employee’s medical file.
Prepare the accounting documents (originals of bills, plus copies of cover pages) for financial audit
Prepare translation of medical bills into English when necessary
Explain the arrangements regarding ICRC medical cover for national staff
Inform employees regarding treatment and hospital costs and assist the Staff Health Officer in referring employees to medical facilities selected by the ICRC.
Ensure that employees use the medical services selected by the ICRC, and that they obtain approval for the use of other facilities/specialists from the Staff Health Officer
Manages medical files of national staff
Follows up on sick leave of national staff
Reports irregularities concerning the sick leaves and the medical bills to the Staff Health Focal Point
Maintain the “Resident employees - medical fees - detailed overview” spreadsheet, and present it to the concerned signatory for reimbursement
Participate in assessment, selection and regular follow-up of reference health facilities
Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to all medical information
Perform trips outside of Addis to other ICRC sites when requested
Diploma /Degree in nursing/Health officer
Minimum 3 years of experience related to Health
Excellent Computer and Office Suite proficiency; knowledge and experience in working with Office 365, Outlook, Lotus Notes, and SharePoint an asset
Excellent command of spoken and written English and Amharic; other national languages an asset
Driving license with driving experience an asset
