GIZ- SDR Programme
Introduction
The SCIDA-II Project in the SDR-ASAL Program of GIZ builds capacities in the field of natural resource management and sustainable land management. Part of these activities is teaching the planning personnel at regional and woreda level GIS skills, including the use of Quantum GIS software. It involves both, satellite and aerial photo interpretation, as well as terrestrial data collection and processing. The regional and woreda planning personnel will process this information into thematic maps to allow land use and natural resources management planning in cooperation with communities in the woreda areas and beyond. Cross-border planning aspects shall be supported by these activities.
Objective of the assignment
The two GIS experts shall support the learning process of the woreda personnel and the project team in the learning process. This involves frequent visits to the woreda offices to teach, coach and support the planning personnel in the preparation of and administration of databases, the generation of maps, and the coordination of such activities between the woredas in question. For its SDR-ASAL program activities, GIZ is is interested in hiring a six-months contract for two experts, who will support the project team and the woreda planning personnel in building capacities on GIS and Software skills in the intervention Woredas as per the detail below:
