JOB SUMMARY:
DSDM model will utilize UHEWs who have roles in HIV testing and other HIV service provision as one of their packages. It will also facilitate to increase client literacy on ART related issues at the same time being efficient on utilization of human resource/volunteers for Adherence support rather than managing individuals. This will also facilitate disclosure among peers and increase the number of peer support groups. In the long run, these groups will be a good platform not only for ART adherence but also for other service delivery activities like VSLA, nutrition support and the like. Community ART refill groups (CAG) are self-forming group of HIV positive persons currently on ARVs who live in the same community, organized in groups and have a shared understanding. This model of community ART refill groups is currently being piloted in fifteen health facilities in Addis Ababa for one year before it is scaled up to other health facilities and regions.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Temporary Technical Assistant is responsible for preparation of training courses; facilitate the development of DSDM skills and preparation and usage of audio-visual aids in an effective manner for the additional pilot sites. He/she works in close collaboration with the assigned project HOPE staff in order to achieve the training objectives and goals.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare and deliver interactive presentation and effectively facilitate group-learning activities.
· Use a mix of different methodologies which are Illustrative lecture, large and small group discussion, case studies, brain storming and role plays.
· Facilitate and provide training based on adult learning principles.
· Emphasizes on acquiring the essential knowledge, attitudinal concepts and skills needed to perform a job, not simply acquiring new knowledge.
· Create a very good atmosphere with trainees during the training process
· Equipped participants with the necessary knowledge and skill to be competent UHEPs managed CAG
· Collect daily evaluation from trainees’ compile and discuss with Project HOPE staff based on the trainees’ feedback, comments and suggestion.
· Provide pre and post training knowledge assessment
· Write a standard training report timely submit.
· A minimum of MPH or MD is required, preferably with advanced Degree or higher in social work, social sciences or a closely related field
· 5-7 years’ experience in HIV care and treatment, especially in implementation of new programs, guidelines and training development. Experience and engagement as a mentor would be an advantages.
· Experience developing training materials
· Good interpersonal and communications skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a team and support others in their work.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
· Good time management and organizational skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
· Willing to travel within and outside the region
