Surveillance officer

Position Summary:
The regional Surveillance officers will be placed at regional levels to support the enhanced rollout implementation of Ethiopian HIV case reporting and Case-based surveillance with one staff each for Tigray, Afar, and SNNPR. The regional Surveillance officers will strengthen the capacity of selected high load health facilities on HIV case investigation, case reporting and response. The surveillance officer will work under the general supervision of the Regional Health Bureau and central and regional ICAP office.
Key Responsibilities:
· Support the RHB in planning, capacity building and implementing HIV case-based surveillance
· Actively work with the central and regional ICAP SI teams and Regional Health Bureaus in cascading the HIV case-based surveillance system in selected health facilities
· Conduct continuous and Periodic monitoring in health facilities implementing HIV Case-based surveillance
· Assist the region technically in establishing regional technical working groups for HIV case-based surveillance to strengthening the program implementation in the region
· Ensure Health facilities are equipped with required material such as CRF pad, Recency kit, SOPs, and Registers
· Provide technical support and on job orientation on CBS documentation and reporting.
· Ensure the successful implementation of the electronic data capture for CBS (REDCap)
· Support in reviewing the data quality of HIV Case report at the facility and woreda level
· Actively support and monitor the HIV response for case detection at woreda and facility level
· Facilitate regional, Zonal and Worada level review meetings
· Support in generating, analyzing, and visualization of program performance report and dissemination to towns, woreda health office, and facilities
· Prepare and submit performance reports regularly
· Carry out other tasks as required
· Master’s Degree in public health or related Fields with a health background
· Must have more than 5 years’ experience in public health epidemic response
· Incumbents need to have basic computer skills and having experience in data visualization software’s like Tableau, Microsoft power bi is an advantage
· Strong oral and written skills in English and working languages in the respective regions
· Previous experience working with the RHB, Zonal Health Departments, and/or Woreda Health Offices is advantageous
· Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with local health officials and associates
