FOR PRODUCTION OF RADIO PROGRAMS
ON SEXUAL REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH (SRH)
FOR THE ATTENTION OF ALL PRODUCTION COMPANIES/AGENCIES WITH EXPERTISE IN PRODUCING SRH RADIO PROGRAMS
A. ANNOUNCEMENT Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia – A’ago project would like to receive proposals from radio production compaies/multi-media production companies with expertise and experience in producing radio programs on SRHR.
B. BACKGROUND
Amref Health Africa, the largest African led international organization on the continent, provides training and health services to over 30 countries in Africa. Founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa to bring critical health services to remote communities, Amref Health Africa now delivers preventative, community-based health care. With a focus on women and children, Amref Health Africa manages a full range of medical and public health programs tackling the most critical health challenges facing country focusing on three key programmatic areas: Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (RMNCH); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Communicable and Non-communicable Diseases. Gender and human resources for health are crosscutting, reflected throughout the organization’s health portfolio. Our organization also engages in clinical outreach interventions and emergency programs including nutrition and resilience building of affected the continent: maternal and child care, HIV & TB, malaria, clean water and sanitation and surgical and clinical outreach.
A’ago Project - Improving Sexual and Reproductive Health Outcomes of Afar Young People – a four years project (Sep 2017 – Aug 2021) in Afar region. The project funded by Embassy of Kingdom of the Netherlands. The project aims to contribute to increase demand for SRHR information, access to and quality of SRHR service. The project has been working to improve the demand and quality for integrated SRHR services in targeted communities and health facilities in collaboration with regional health bureaus, Woreda health office, non-governmental organizations and community members at large.
C. SUMMARY OF SCOPE OF WORK
The A’ago project would like to develop radio programs design document in English and 30 radio program episodes (20 minutes episode) in Afari language to support Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) for creating demand for SRH information and service among young people and their communities, to reduce FGM, abduction, early marriage, substance abuse, STI, proper use of FP, sexual reproductive and to improve the enabling environment for youth and adolescents including girls and young women to exercise their SRHR in Afar region. Each radio program will consist of a variety show, in a magazine format, tailored for specific target audiences.
Each episode will be produced in Afari. Each episode will be designed for selected target audiences, namely: new married couple, Adolescent, youth, pregnant and lactating mothers, fathers and religious leaders. The radio program should be produced in a way that supports Health Extension Workers (HEWs) during their house-house activities, interpersonal communication, education and group meetings about SRHR practices to increase the knowledge of the community. Each episode will cover one topic related to SRHR and promote recommended and positive behaviours and actions.
Minimum Requirements:
Ø Bidders should be legally registered with renewed business license and TIN, or registration certificates from proper government authorities
Ø Bidders should have a minimum of five years relevant experience after establishment
Ø Experience with social behavior change communication message development and productions is an advantage
Ø Financial & technical proposals should be submitted in separate sealed envelopes to Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia Addis Ababa office with sealed documents before the deadline. Any submissions after the closing deadline will be rejected
Ø Submitted proposals must include copies of similar productions carried out by the firm on DVD or Flash Drive
