Project description:
CCM (Comitato Collaborazione Medica) is an Italian NGO operating in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda, specialized in the health and health-related sector running projects, either in humanitarian and development contexts.
CCM has conducted several interventions in Ethiopia since 1982. CCM is present in different areas of the country: it is carrying out interventions in Amhara, Tigray, Somali and Oromia regions, as well as in Addis Ababa. The organization's projects focus on strengthening the local capacities by supporting the national health system to implement the health policies and strategies and promote health at community level. CCM projects adopt an approach based on the continuity of care and they are focused in particular on sexual and reproductive health, maternal, neonatal, child, adolescent health and One Health.
Recognizing the interconnection of health of humans, animals and the environment, since 2005 CCM has been embracing the One Health (OH) to enhance the health of pastoral communities and their livestock in the remote and underserved areas of Ethiopia.
In March 2019, CCM and its partners, Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Suisse (VSF-Suisse) and International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), started the 15-month inception phase of the HEAL project, One Health Units for Humans, Environment and Animals and Livelihoods (HEAL). The intervention has a regional scale and will focus on Oromia and Somali Regions of Ethiopia, Gedo Region of Somalia and Marsabit County of Kenya. The goal of the project is to improve the wellbeing of pastoralist communities in arid and semi-arid areas of Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya by ensuring healthy people derive their livelihoods from healthy livestock in a sustainably managed environment. The inception phase is to be followed by a pilot phase of 4 years and an implementation of 2 phases of 4 years each. The project is co-funded by the Swiss Development Cooperation and other donors.
In the framework of the HEAL project CCM is looking for a OH Health Expert, to become a member of the HEAL Ethiopia team and particularly support the health activities and services of the multidisciplinary approach. Responsibilities and duties of OH Health Expert are detailed below.
Key responsibilities:
The OH Health Expert is responsible for overall coordination/implementation of the health component in the framework of the HEAL inception phase activities in Liben zone of Somali region and Borena zone of Oromia region. S/he will ensure the correct performance of the activities, their constant monitoring, financial planning, the correct use of means, maintaining relations with partners and government health counterparts, in full compliance with the work plan and the guidelines agreed between the partners. The position incumbent ensures that all the health activities are properly implemented in the framework of the project. S/he will be directly responsible for the technical and organizational support of the health activities foreseen in the project, including field assessments, development of training materials, liaison with institutional counterparts and coordination with project partners.

The OH Health Expert contributes to the realization of the CCM component within the project/HEAL which mainly focuses, but it is not limited to, the following roles and responsibilities:

OH-Health Expert Required to have the following qualification and skills
The ideal candidate should have proven experience and technical knowledge in Public Health and in the management of humanitarian and development projects, excellent analysis and project writing skills, good negotiations and team working capacities both with local and international partners.
