Project Background
The focus of the Sport for development Africa is regional project to be implemented in Ethiopia on promoting vocational training and developing modules to increase and improve the employ-ability of young people through sport. This is implemented in particular through the Sport for Development approach Sport 2 Work, whose aim is to prepare schoolchildren and young entrepreneurs for a successful existence in the labor market. Sport can make access to vocational training easier and more attractive. In the context of sports activities, young people can also learn skills relevant to the labor market and gain valuable practical and initial work experience.
The Sport for Education approach is to be anchored in the curricula of the national Federal Agency for Vocational Education and Training in Ethiopia (FTA, Federal TVET Agency).
Objective of the Project
The implementation of Sport for development in Ethiopia is thus intended to achieve synergies with the objectives of the TC projects "Capacity Building in the Education Sector" and "Qualification and Employment Prospects for Refugees and the Host Population". Students* and teachers* of vocational schools and surrounding communities benefit from the individual S4D training units, the established and sustainably managed sports infrastructure and other sports activities
Major Expected Output
Development of a strategy for anchoring the SFE (Sports for Development) concept with specific Gender focus (gender equality) and Safeguarding in Sport and Sport for Development in the Ethiopian vocational training sector in close cooperation with the Federal TVET Agency, the national TVET Training Institute in Addis Ababa (Federal TVET Institute (FTVETI)) and selected TVET Colleges (scaling-up).
Specific Outputs (Deliverables)
1. Preparation of a competence and capacity analysis for demand-oriented
2. Conceptual design of SfE modules tailored to requirements in the area of soft skills for employability/life skills and support for the implementation of courses by the national TVET training institute
3. Implementation and support of Training of Trainers (ToTs) in the field of Sport for Education (application of the modules in the field of Soft Skills for Employability/Life Skills).
4. Training of multipliers (individual), advising organisations on gender equality in and through sport (organisation) and raising awareness of socio-cultural norms and inequalities through sport (society) are the cornerstones of all measures.
5. Establishing cooperation with the private sector in the area of utilization and Application of SfE. Preparation of an actor and SWOT analysis to identify cooperation models and potential for cooperation.
6. Regular monitoring of the implemented and planned activities and Reporting (including ad hoc reports, challenges, solutions
General Duties and Responsibilities
Frontieri is looking for a highly motivated professional to act as project manager for the above project. Her/his tasks are in particular:
- Contribution to the development of the concepts for achieving the country contribution to the module objective and outputs,
- Technical advice to partners in the implementation of Sport for Education measures
- Coordination of the implementation of the activities at the selected partner institutes, in particular anchoring the concept of Sport for Education with a focus on gender/inclusion/safeguarding in sport and Sport for development
- Identification, support and documentation of cooperation with the private sector and the local economy
- Support in the planning and organisation of further education measures/supervision of ToTs/multipliers qualification and Sport for Education training and support in ensuring the quality standards
- Ensuring impact-oriented and conflict-sensitive monitoring at the respective locations
Education
University degree (/master/bachelor) in vocational education, economics, sports science, gender studies, education and social sciences
Language
Business fluent Amharic (mother tongue) and English (C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), very good knowledge of another regional language (e.g. Tigrinja, Oromia)
General Professional Experience
10 years of experience in the vocational training sector in international cooperation projects and cooperation with the private sector
Specific Professional Experience
5 years of professional competence in one of the central counselling contents (i.e. training and further training of vocational school teachers, CD/organisational counselling of vocational training institutions, sport for development)
Leadership Experience/Management
5 years’ of experience in project management
Development Cooperation Experience
3 years of experience in Development Cooperation projects
Other
1 years’ of experience with the cross-cutting issue of gender in vocational training
