Project Background
Feed the Future Ethiopia: Livelihoods for Resilience Activity (GRAD II project) is a five-years USAID funded project designed to reduce food insecurity and increasing resilience for households (HHS) in highland areas of the three regions. It is implemented by a consortium of five development partners led by CARE-Ethiopia in three regions, Amhara, SNNPR, and Tigray. SNV-Ethiopia is a technical partner leading the implementation of the Value Chain Development (VCD)/ market system development component of the project in three regions – in Amhara, with Organization for Rehabilitation and Development of Amhara (ORDA), in SNNPR with CARE-SNNPR & Agri Service Ethiopia (ASE); and in Tigray with REST. The project works in 27 woredas residing in seven zones i.e Ofla, Alamata, Enda Mehoni, Emba Alage, Hintalo Wojerat, Ganta Afeshum, Hawzen and Gulomekeda (Tigray); Guba Lafto, Habru, Raya Kobo, Meket, Wadla, Menz Mama and Menz Gera ( Amhara); Misha, Lemu, Anlemu, Soru, Duna, Kochire, Wonago, Dilla Zuria, Aleta Wendo,Dara, Boricha and Chuko (SNNPR).
SNV Ethiopia has invited qualified local capacity builder/consultant to apply for the assignment of undertaking documentation of the MSP meetings/workshops while conducted in each project zone.
Objective and Tasks of the assignment
The overall objective of the assignment is to document and share the outcome of the value chain based MSPs to be held in each zone. The role of the consultant will be the following but not limited to:
· Ensuring registration of participants with their full address
· Taking notes of the issues and questions raised and the key strategies proposed by participants
· Review and summarize the key updates and presentations
· Identify key learnings from the MSP workshops and include the MSP proceedings
· Undertake documentations in pictures through professional camera including the field days and experience sharing events organized by MSPs.
· The consultant must bring her/his own photograph camera, computer and other recording tape for the documentation process.
· Undertake corrections as per the feedback of the lead value chain advisor and produce the final proceedings
Education
BA, BSc or MA, MSc in agricultural economics, agricultural marketing ,economics, business administration, agribusiness development, cooperative management, agriculture and related fields
Experience
· Local capacity Builders/ consultants should have at least eight years’ experience in undertaking similar assignment
· Shall be based in regions and zones to minimize time and travel expenses
· Good understanding and working experience in value chain development
· Experience in minute taking and preparation of proceedings for workshops, learnings events like MSP workshops of value chains
· Proven experience working with a complex set of stakeholders to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public and private officials and the general public in order to promote value chain developments
· Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in order to summarize discussions and produce good proceedings.
· Displays a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
· Works with minimal supervision.
· Demonstrates responsible behaviour and attention to respond appropriately upon supervision.
· Fluency in English and knowing the local language is a plus
· Adequate computer skills
