Terms of Reference for TVET Expert Position in the NORAD Component of
GIZ- Sustainable Training and Education Programme
As an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations, the federally owned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its development-policy objectives. GIZ promotes complex reforms and change processes.
In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors.
The GIZ Programme for Sustainable Training and Education (STEP) aims improve the employment prospects of young Ethiopians. The STEP Programme Office is looking to recruit a TVET Expert as per the detail below.
Major duties and responsibilities
1. Coordination and project facilitation for the GIZ-activities on regional level in the TVET component. Areas are not limited to but will include the following:
a. Improving core processes of Cooperative Training Models
- Establish and strengthen collaboration with private and public partners for TVET in the pilot region.
- Support the concept development and alteration of cooperative training approaches to the local context in the pilot regions
- Support the regional teams of STEP in selected TVET colleges to organize and coordinate the implementation of cooperative training with the private and public partners
b. Facilitate programme activities for Improving capacities of key actors in multiplying cooperative training
- Facilitate Institutional capacity building for regional TVET actors (incl. Managemen & research)
2. Support other project activities in order to reach the project’s objectives – areas of involvement will be agreed upon as needed
3. Support all general project management activities such as:
- Communication and Events
- Knowledge management
- Reporting
- Preparation of concepts, strategies and operational plans for current and follow-on phase of the project
4. Implement tasks under the technical and disciplinary supervision of the TVET Component Manager of STEP
