In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on the commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors.
GIZ Ethiopia is looking to recruit crop production advisor for Strategic Alliance (STA) “Building an Avocado and Sesame Value Chain in Ethiopia” (develoPPP.de)
Position: crop production advisor
Place of Work: Addis Ababa with frequent travel to duty stations.
Remuneration: as per the GIZ scale

The Advisor performs the following tasks:
Perform other duties and tasks at the request of management
D. Qualifications required, the focus will be on forestry
· Bachelor’s Degree in plant/crop science, agriculture, agricultural engineering or other related/equivalent disciplines with a minimum of 3 years of experience in similar position and GIZ/NGO work-related experience is an asset;
· Excellent communication skills on different hierarchical levels;
· Strong in organizing project activities and follow up with the team;
· Solution orientation, good problem-solving skills;
· Experience in coordinating teams of experts and establish effective information flow;
· Experience in developing and building good working relationships with government authorities and with other public and private sectors;
· Capabilities as trainer including participatory training methodology, planning and evaluation of training events;
· Technical knowledge in the field of GAP, FBS, and Farmer Field School approach;
· Fluent in English and Amharic, knowledge of regional local language is an asset;
· Good working knowledge of standard computer applications such MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.);
· Experience in the field of organic farming and tillage systems is desired and will be considered as an asset;
· Knowledge of the GIZ rules and regulations and GIZ project cycle management will be considered as an asset.
