Although AMREF has been formally registered in Ethiopia in 1998, a full-fledged country program was started in 2002. AMREF in Ethiopia would like to recruit one Project Officer for its mLearning Project funded by UKaid. PROJECT OFFICER: - ETCO/HR/40/2013
The job holder will be based in Mekelle and will report to the Project Manager Purpose of the Job:
To provide technical expertise and support project activities and implementation of project strategy. Key tasks and Responsibilities
Organizing training workshops
Monitoring visits and data collection with training centers
Monitoring visits and data collection with HEWs and tutors
Liaison with training centers and district health bureaus
Specific duties include:
Develop a work plan that includes objectives and deliverables
Involve in baseline and operations research
Coordination of activities with and across regional government stakeholders
Work with experts to enhance existing curricula specific to health Extension Worker skill and knowledge development
In consultation with project manager and other, document and share best practices with users
Support the teaching learning process
Work with the project manager and partners to develop/adapt complementary teaching aids
Support Health Science colleges through training to trainers, mentoring and workshops
Undertake other responsibilities as may be required.
Job Requirement
Qualifications and Competencies:
BSC Degree in clinical nurse or public health nurse.
Minimum of 4 years related experience
Experience and training in education and/or human capacity development
Direct experience working with health Science colleges
The candidate should have experience or familiarity with Ethiopian healthcare system with good knowledge of the Health Extension program
Experience on public health project implementation.
NGO experience is an advantage
Desired skills & Qualifications
Fluent in Amharic and English, and knowledge of local language is desirable
Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work with staff, colleagues and partners from diverse backgrounds,
Strong communication skill especially report writing skill
Good knowledge of MS Office application
Strong negotiation skill and good understanding of partnership
Proven ability to show initiative and to work independently
Communication regularly with partners/colleagues, and encouraging input from others,
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
