The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.

Duties and Responsibility
· Assist pathologists during gross examination of surgical samples
· Perform routine and advanced pathology laboratory staining techniques preparing slides form surgical specimens, fine needle aspirations (FNAs) peripheral blood, and other body fluids
· Prepare all the working reagents required for the lab
· Participate actively in the continuous improvement plan of the lab activity
· Assist students and researchers of their research/lab work
· Participate in preparation of training materials of basic pathology related techniques for staffs, students and researches.
· Take parting implementing advanced laboratory techniques including Immunohistochemistry.
· Read literatures, discus with colleagues or participate in laboratory meetings at AHRI.
· Conduct research and present scientific findings.
· Involve in other activities assigned by the institute
· MSc in Histotechnology or Medical Laboratory Technology; OR
· BSc in Histotechnology or Medical Laboratory Technology with two years’ experience in histopathology techniques
· Professional registration license from Ethiopian Ministry of Health/FMHACA is required.
· Training or experience in Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence or other pathology laboratory techniques will be an asset
