Organizational Background
Young Women’s Christian Association in Ethiopia is an affiliate member to World YWCA; an international voluntary membership movement that connects women leading social and economic change in over 120 countries. YWCA in Ethiopia was initially founded in 1962 and reestablished in 2000 then re-registered as Ethiopian resident charity following proclamation 621/2009 and again re-registered with revised CSO 1113/2019 proclamation under FDRE CSO agency.
YWCA in Ethiopia seeks to improve the status of women and girls and empower through intervening on its core intervention focus areas; advancing gender equality, influencing governance and planning, socioeconomic empowerment, sexual and reproductive health, access to education and young women leadership development. Currently, in partnership with ActionAid Ethiopia (AAE), YWCA is implementing a project entitled ‘Young Women Championing for Climate Justice in Ethiopia’ with the objective to strengthen young women understanding about climate change and justice, and active voice and advocate to ensure resilience to climate change and influence pro-women and girls’ policies, strategies, and practices for climate justice at national level.
Purpose of the assignment
These TOR intendeds to specifically achieve the purpose providing technical guidance and training in to understand key concepts, international experience and agendas, reviewing and analyzing national polices, strategies and political party manifesto’s and developing advocacy and young women movement building strategies on climate justice
