Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Quality Improvement (MERQ) is a private consulting firm established by a team of enthusiastic Ethiopian professionals with a mix of medical, public health, program evaluation, health care quality, and capacity building backgrounds.
MERQ is a firm that aspires to be a pragmatic choice for those who are looking for genuine engagement in research, scientific inquiries, and program implementation. It has been operating in Ethiopia since 2013, has done several small-scale and large-scale undertakings of public health of social importance, and has collaborated with several local and international partners. Most of its engagements were contractual, and at the moment have expanded to grant management.

Job Summary
The Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Director (MELD) is responsible for the MERQ Ethiopia Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learnings portfolio's overall leadership and management. The MELD has overall responsibility and accountability for all MERQ's Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learnings (MEL), her/his team, MEL activity budget, assets, and legal standing related to the program. The MEL Director will improve MERQ's program quality and administration and the provision of MEL related services to clients and partners in Ethiopia and beyond. He/she leads MERQ’s services to its clients in relation to program/project evaluation, designing M&E systems, and capacity building on M&E. With the support of the CEO, the MEL Director will work to assure M&E integration in all areas of technical assistance, offer leadership further to develop Quality Improvement systems across all activity areas. He/she collects appropriate information on all MERQ contracted activities and internal systems, and will provide leadership to the MEL Team.
