BACKGROUND: The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) associated with former President William J. Clinton’s Foundation is currently operating in Ethiopia carrying out a wide range of programs to support the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in improving the health status of the country by ensuring access and quality of health services. We are committed to increasing our effectiveness through an innovative programming approach that optimizes quality, impact, and scale. Being the largest CHAI field office worldwide, we currently employ around 100 people in the following 7 programs: The Ethiopian Hospital Management Initiative (EHMI), Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH), Drug Access, Nutrition, Lab Services, Vaccines Introduction, and Global Health Financing.
CHAI is working with the Government of Ethiopia to roll out a program to drive rapid and substantial reductions in chronic malnutrition among Ethiopian children. Robust program monitoring and evaluation, including research, will be a key component of the initiative to ensure evidence based implementation and tracking of results. CHAI is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual, with demonstrated leadership skills, for a Field Coordinator position.
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: The Field Coordinator will coordinate a team of up to 2 Research Assistants, ensuring the completion of interview schedules and travel logistics are in alignment with the project’s aggressive timelines. As a member of the research data collection team, the Field Coordinator is also expected to administer household surveys to caregivers and children in their households across select kebeles and woredas in the Oromia and Amhara regions. The Field Coordinator will set up interview schedules with participating households, administering in-depth interviews with caregivers, taking weight, height, and mid-upper arm circumference of infants and young children. Beyond these interviews, the Field Coordinator will interact with health extension workers and community leaders to ensure smooth implementation of the household surveys. The Field Coordinator will need a high level of organization, self-motivation, interpersonal skills, as well as demonstrated leadership skills.
