Amref Health Africa (formerly African Medical Research Foundation) is the premier African-led international health development organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa to bring critical health services to remote communities, Amref Health Africa in the intervening years has broadened its mission to include training of some 500 thousand community health workers and managing the design and implementation of health development projects in more than 30 countries across Africa. Although Amref Health Africa has been formally registered in Ethiopia in 1998, a full-fledged country program was started in 2002. Since then, the country program has grown from one project in Addis Ababa to over 20 projects in five regions (Addis Ababa, Afar, North Shewa, Oromiya and Southern Nation, Nationalities and People Region). Technical Assistant :- ETCO/HR/027/2014 The job holder will be based in Addis Ababa and reports to Country Director Key Responsibilities:
Represent Amref Health Africa-Ethiopia in national forums regarding emergency nutrition issues
Provide technical backup to the field staff implementing the Emergency Nutrition project in Afar
Review donor reports coming from the field and ensure its quality and timeliness
conduct monthly supportive supervision to the field and provide onsite support
Create good relationship at regional level to improve Amref Health Africa Ethiopia partnership
Ensure integration of the emergency project activities with the existing development projects
Assist in proposal writing for Emergency Nutrition call for proposals if such opportunities arise
Accomplishes any other related tasks as necessary
Job Requirement
Qualifications and Competencies:
Masters in Nutrition, Health or Agriculture
Solid experience in Emergency Nutrition
Vast Experience in Humanitarian Organizations.
Good interpersonal communication skills
Communication & writing skills in both Amharic & English
Excellent computer skills: Ms Windows, Ms Word and Excel,
In addition the ideal candidate must have strong analytical, problem solving and networking skills.
Be a team player and communicator and work under minimal supervision.
