Summary Statement of Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the GBV Manger, the GBV Officer will supervise the case management and support provided to GBV survivors. As survivors of gender-based violence tend to have multiple needs, the GBV officer will encourage smooth communication, collaboration and coordination among partners from the protection, health, legal, and psychosocial sectors committed to reducing the incidence of violence against women. This includes collecting data about GBV trends and disseminating information to all relevant stakeholders. The GBV officer will also establish and maintain networks with community leaders, women leaders, service providers and camp management to ensure that survivors receive compassionate support from the community. Key Responsibilities:
Monitor & supervise case management
Gather information about what partners have done and are doing. Monitor how they are implementing the IASC guidelines
Build a relationship with all relevant GBV program stakeholders (health, legal, protection, psychosocial) in camp and the local community to encourage greater communication, collaboration and coordination among partners from the protection, health, legal, and psychosocial sectors
Set the strategy and agenda for the coordination meetings
Liaise with stakeholders and trainer to develop strategy, design exercises, and conduct mentoring exercises with health, police and ARRA protection.
Work with stakeholders to design roles, responsibilities and common forms.
Monitor and suggest solutions to improve referral pathway
Compiling data to monitor GBV response.
Job Requirement
Requirements
Diploma, BSc degree, or MA in Social Work, Public Health, Nursing, Women’s Studies, or related field of study;.
4 years of relevant experience for first Degree, 2 years of experience for post graduate degree;
A trained counselor from a reputable organization, years experience counseling victims of abuse or VCT.
Clear understanding of gender, human rights, and issues surrounding violence against women.
Able to maintain medical ethics, confidentiality and respect for client
Experience in participatory techniques and community mobilization
Ability to lead, train, facilitate and motivate other GBV field workers in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner.
Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
Ability to communicate well in English as well as write clear and concise reports in English
Fluency in Tigrigna preferred
Possess interest and commitment to human rights and gender equality.
