The Senior Policy Advisor will be responsible to conduct policy reviews, analysis and support towards identifying and recommending policy options and advocacy issues. S/he will be responsible for writing the policy reviews and for coordinating and facilitating dialogues and discussion forums with the respective ministries. S/he will participate as necessary in policy dialogue and represent ECSC interests externally at events and meetings with policy makers. Moreover, the incumbent will be expected to pro-actively monitor relevant policy developments to identify potential issues, opportunities, and challenges for ECSC work.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
To considered for the post , applicants needs to have Masters degree in Public/Social policy, Law, Public Health, Sociology, Nutrition or other relevant qualification, with strong focus on nutrition related advocacy with a minimum of 5 years related work experience. S/he must have substantial experience of advocacy and representation work in a related field, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of advocacy strategies; Experience of policy research, experience of writing policy reports and briefings and evaluating evidence of their impact; Experience of developing advocacy strategies, knowledge and understanding of a range of advocacy techniques; Experience of coalition building and working with civil society actors to deliver change. Moreover, s/he needs to have practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities in realising children’s rights in Ethiopia, in relation to thematic area; superior written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex arguments into accessible English for a non-specialist audience, and the ability to write articles that would be published in the mainstream press; excellent verbal communication skills, appropriate for high-level external representation (for example lobbying Ministers, Health Officials etc); proven conceptual skills and an ability to think and plan strategically, good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to train and mentor staff; excellent understanding of the Millennium Development Goals; good presentation, training and facilitation skills; fluency in spoken and written English; commitment to SC’s mission values and approach; good computer skills (particularly Excel, Word and databases)
