The Population Health and Environment Ethiopia Consortium (PHE EC), based in Addis Ababa is seeking to recruit high caliber and experienced candidate for the position of Population and Health Officer under its Sustainable Management of Bale Eco-Region Project. The project will be implemented by 5 organizations lead by Farm Africa and in partnership with SOS Sahel, FZS, IWMI and PHE EC. The officer will work with partner health care centers in the project area and with the 4 implementing organizations as required.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and lead implementation of population and health project activities with partner organizations
Develop and deliver capacity building trainings for communities and partner organizations
Provide over all assistance in the mainstreaming of family planning and reproductive health working with partner in the project area such as Meri stops, Path Finder and others
Identify lessons learned and potential best practices related to population and health integration, develop, documentation and dissemination of best practices.
Coordinate monitoring and evaluation activities for the project with regard to population and health
Produce and submit monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, annual and entire project period reports to the SHARE team and PHE EC
Take part in the coordination and establishment of the multisectoral task force
Develop project proposals for securing grant for continuing the existing project and sharing the good practices gained to other localities
Develop research proposals and conduct researches
Perform other duties as required
Job Requirement
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES
Msc./Bsc. degree in public health, health officer and related fields, and
Has at least 3 years (Msc.) and 5 years (Bsc.) of practical experience in projects/programs related to population and health
Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
Organize and accurately completes multiple tasks by establishing priorities while taking into consideration special assignments, frequent interruptions, deadlines, available resources
Establishes, builds and maintains effective working relationships with staff and partner organizations to facilitate the provision of support
Excellent communication in English and Oromifa language both written and oral, report writing and documentation skill.
Has the experience of working in multi-cultural environment and local communities.
Has the ability to synthesize and analyze information critically.
Has excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability work in a team environment.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft word, Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, SPSS, Database Software’s and Social Media tools such as Face book, LinkedIn, and Twitter for the benefit of the work.
