BACKGROUND DRC is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. The aim of DRC is to protect refugees and internally displaced persons (IDP) against persecution and to promote durable solutions to the problems of forced migration, on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. As part of its EC-funded mixed migration project in the Horn of Africa and Yemen, DRC is implementing a range of protection and livelihoods activities in five regions: Ethiopia, Djibouti, Yemen, Somaliland, and Puntland. DRC’s activities for this project will include, inter alia, capacity building for duty bearers dealing with mixed migration, awareness-raising for potential migrants, protection monitoring of migration routes, support of mixed migration coordination bodies, and livelihoods support for returning migrants. This project’s activities are aimed at increasing the protection livelihoods of migrants – whether asylum seekers, refugees, economic migrants, trafficked persons, regular, or irregular – and to inform them about the risks of migrating.
PURPOSE In order to implement its regional mixed migration project across the region, DRC has located the project’s leadership in Addis Ababa and it needs a qualified national project Assistant to help ensure the success of the project. The Project Assistant will be based in Addis Ababa as well and will be a core member of DRC’s regional mixed migration team.
The Project Assistant will be responsible for:
Assist DRC, and the RMMM specifically, to develop, implement and to monitor mixed migration project and/or protection activities;
Assist in the development of materials and/or project documents for mixed migration, refugee and asylum, and/or trafficking-in-persons issues;
Conduct data entry and other administrative tasks as needed and directed;
Ensure timely procurement and logistics for regional mixed migration programming and on behalf of the RMMM;
Help to verify information obtained during protection monitoring and compiling that information;
Assist in liaising with UNHCR, IOM, UNICEF, UNDP, WFP and other international organizations on DRC's behalf;
Work closely with the RMMM and the Regional Mixed Secretariat (RMMS) to disseminate information relevant to onward migration to migrants and potential migrants, under the supervision of senior DRC staff members;
Help facilitate the Mixed Migration Task Force (MMTF) meetings and other mixed migration coordination mechanisms in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Puntland, Somaliland, and Puntland;
Travel to Djibouti, Ethiopia, Puntland, Somaliland, and Puntland as needed and directed to assist in the implementation of regional mixed migration programming;
Assist with the preparation of fundraising and grant proposals as needed;
Assist with monitoring and evaluation of DRC mixed migration activities as directed, under the supervision of the RMMM;
Participate in reporting on all activities to DRC partners and donors;
Support the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive files of project activities, outputs, materials, and other relevant documentation;
Support financial reporting on all mixed migration programming project activities, in cooperation with the RMMM and DRC finance and administration staff;
Work to ensure mixed migration programming is compliant with the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) standards and the DRC Code of Conduct
Help with other DRC administrative, registration, and other legal issues as requested; and
Work on any other duties decided on and agreed with the Regional Mixed Migration Manager.

Qualifications Required
Appropriate University degree.
Demonstrated commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of the society.
At least 1 year of experience, preferably with international organizations, NGOs, or diplomatic missions.
Fluency in written and spoken English and Amharic.
Good command of computer programs and applications.
Results-oriented and intellectually flexible.
Desirable
Knowledge of protection and livelihoods principles in humanitarian and/or development aid.
Experience working with mixed migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and/or internally displaced persons.
Experience in capacity building and in assisting the implementation of training sessions.
Experience in procurement and/or logistics.
Ability to read, write and/or converse in Afar, Arabic, French, Somali and/or Tigrinya.
