Position Summary Responsible for developing and leading implementation youth employment and livelihood interventions described in the project strategy. This includes life skills training, micro-lending, savings programs, micro-insurance, micro-franchising, village savings and loan programs, financial literacy, adult literacy, employment generation, alternative/additional income generation, youth apprenticeships, internships, job placement support, modern job search methods training, entrepreneurship, occupational safety and health training, and labor market analysis.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Leads implementation of program initiatives that prepares youths for gainful employment, including provision of vocational training, business skills and entrepreneurial skill training.
Designs strategies and guidelines to ensure involvement of the youth in program assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation and enhance youth participation.
Organizes and facilitate training programs for project staff, community and partners in providing appropriate support to promote skilled and involved youth.
Identifies potential apprenticeship and internship programs for youth to learn the practical and theoretical aspects of highly skilled occupations.
Designs programs for assisting youth in the use of job-search methods, including registering at an employment center and/or answering job advertisements.
Designs and implement appropriate programs to increase youths’ awareness of occupational safety and health and other labor standards issues.
Designs and implement strategies for transitioning youth from exploitative and/or dangerous work into decent work, including by addressing occupational safety and health issues in partnership with government institution and employers.
Provides technical support for youths and communities efforts to improve reporting on labor law violations.
Builds the capacity of the partner communities to enable them to support youth to have access to credit
Develops linking to microfinance institutions and receive ongoing technical support for business development and economic empowerment for target youth.

Job Requirement
Minimum Education and Experience Required
Master’s in social works, international development, Sociology or related field.
Minimum of ten years of experience in a leadership position responsible for developing youth employment and livelihood interventions in the project areas.
Experience in projects enhancing livelihood interventions and youth employment in Ethiopia.
Understanding of child labor issues, including occupational safety and health, and youth employment.
Experience working successfully with government agencies and private sector engagement livelihoods improvement for households and youth employment programs.
Experience working with relevant government agencies, civil society organizations, employers and unions.
