Position Title: Leadership Development Specialist Duty Station: Addis Ababa Contract duration: Indefinite period contingent upon funding of Child Protection program Reports To: Project Director/Program Manager

Background: CRS and its partners will undertake new programming to decrease exploitative labor amongst older children in select areas of Ethiopia. The project will promote education and vocational training opportunities for youth as well as promote decent work opportunities for them. There will be a focus on girls, and special attention given to assuring that they have access to safe, sustainable education and work options appropriate to their age. The project will enhance livelihoods and access to social protection programs for youth and their households. It will further promote engagement and leadership by youth in their communities.
Purpose of the Position: To lead the promotion of youth involvement leadership opportunities for youth within their communities through the project’s implementing partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
a.Project Specific
Plan and manage the implementation of the project’s youth leadership and community involvement approaches.
Lead the design of, and undertake trainings of trainers, supportive supervision and other activities to, develop the competencies of implementing partners in promoting youth leadership and community involvement.
Oversee the development of community service projects.
Promote the establishment of professional networks for youth.
Proactively seek and roll out methods to promote the involvement of girls.
Work closely with project staff, stakeholders, and partners to develop synergistic programming across the project.
b.General
With other senior staff, provide advice and leadership, as appropriate, in incorporating project activities with those of other CRS and stakeholder initiatives. Seek synergies and learnings across programs.
Key Working Relationships
The Leadership Development Specialist will establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders nationally, regionally and locally in support of the project. He or she will ensure effective communication between CRS, key partners and stakeholders externally and across project staff. The Leadership development specialist will be supervised by the Project Director.
Job Requirement
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Education: Bachelors or Master’s degree in management, social work, development studies, or related field.
Experience:
For Master’s degree a minimum of Two years of experience for Bachelor’s degree a minimum of Five years’ experience in a leadership position responsible for developing youth leadership interventions.
Competencies /Knowledge, Ability and Skill
Experience with projects that promote youth leadership and youth involvement in their communities.
Understanding of youth engagement and development issues.
Experience working successfully with government agencies and private organizations engaged in promoting youth engagement and development.
Experience working with relevant government agencies and civil society organizations.
Skilled in the design and roll-out of trainings and supervisory tools.
Fluency in English required. Knowledge of Amharic preferred.
