DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Graphics Designer Is responsible supporting the design and development of student books, teachers guide, and other teaching and learning aids. S/he is responsible for contributing towards design solutions that have a high visual impact. The role involves listening to RTI staff and collaborating with Sketch Artists, Illustrators, Copy Editors and stakeholders to understand their needs before making design decisions. The job function includes, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts.
Interpreting READ TA graphics needs and developing designs to suit their purpose.
Creating designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.
Drawing and printing charts, graphs, illustrations, and other artwork, using computer
Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work
Marking up, pasting, and assembling final layouts to prepare layouts for printer
Working with a wide range of media and emerging technologies, including photography, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Adobe InDesign
Determining size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and selecting style and size of type
Submitting finished copy and art layout for approval
Contributing to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Job Requirement
QUALIFICATIONS: • Relevant bachelor degree including, Art/fine art, Communication design, Media arts, Print and digital media management and Visual communication and design or relevant certificate or diploma in graphics design • Proven competence in desktop publishing tools, design and image processing software, i.e., Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign automation • Two to five years of experience as a graphic designer in a major publishing outlet with demonstrated experience in layout and creative services including color separation • Accuracy and attention to detail • Fluency in both written and spoken English is required • Fluency in one or more READ TA Mother Tongue Languages is an asset
