OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB: To produce radio magazine, drama and PSAs on theme of Maternal Child Health.
JOB RELATIONSHIP Reporting to: Senior Production Manager Coordination with: Fellow Producers, Assistant Producers, Broadcast Assistant, Listening Club Coordinator, and cross functional teams (e.g. Finance & Admin, Research & Learning etc)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Production To produce a weekly 30 minute radio magazine programme, maintaining high creative and professional standard. Able to write engaging scripts, commission high impact content, as well as do own interviews and reports. Please note, there are two version of this magazine programme – one in Amharic (Jember) and the other in Oromiffa (Biftuu Jireenyaa). Producers are not expected to work on both unless they are completely bilingual
Be willing to present or perform at the microphone as presenter’s friend, as and when needed, on-location and in the field.
Evaluate and respond to feedback from audience in form of letters, SMS or email
Be willing, if required, to produce entertaining drama segments
Conceptualise and produce high impact, creative PSAs (Public Service Announcements) in Amharic
Supply content to BBC Media Action website, reflecting key achievements of project
Provide mentoring and capacity building, as and when needed, for BBC Media Action partners
Able to use a range of audio and digital equipment, recording and editing in the single track and multi-track to the highest professional standards. (If necessary training will be given.)
Demonstrate strong understanding of BBC editorial values and ability to put the same into practice
Be responsible for efficient use of allocated resources and production budgets
Be willing to take on new or different roles, as required
Administration
Understand simple budgeting and keep track of expenditure
Pass on all necessary documents relating to broadcast output to relevant staff in BBC Media Action office and to partner stations
Job Requirement
EDUCATION B.A . and two years relevant experience, or Diploma and four years relevant experience
COMPETENCIES SPECIFIC:

Good broadcasting voice
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken Amharic
Functional written and spoken English.
