Vacancy Announcement – Driver
Strengthening of Ethiopia’s Urban Health Program (SEUHP) is a USAID funded five years Program implemented by John Snow, Inc (JSI). The goal of SEUHP is to improve the health status of Ethiopia’s urban population by reducing HIV/TB-related and maternal, neonatal and child morbidity and mortality and the incidence of communicable/non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The objective of the Program is to strengthen the government of Ethiopia’s Urban Health Extension Program (UHEP) and urban health by improving the quality, use and management of community-level urban health and related services.
JSI/ (SEUHP) is seeking to hire a highly qualified Driver for its Amhara Project. The position holder will be based at the Amhara Regional Office in Bahir Dar with frequent travel within the region as well as other regions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Amhara Regional Manager, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to technical and administrative team, Consultants and visitors as requested, ensuring highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Driver has a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different backgrounds.
Specific Responsibilities:
Provide transportation and logistics services for Program activities in all implementing SEUHP geographic areas including Addis Ababa and outside of Addis Ababa;
Ensure safety of all passengers and property while providing transportation services;
Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle;
Maintain accurate vehicle logs and inspect vehicles on a daily basis, notify supervisor of any maintenance needs;
Be capable of providing minor mechanical services to the vehicle when outside of Addis Ababa;
To understand and be capable of providing first aid, including CPR in the rare event of an accident;
To strictly adhere to organizational and donor policies and procedures and be capable of informing other staff of policies;
To strictly follow Ethiopian law in terms of transportation regulations (seatbelt usage, licensing, procedures to report accidents);
To strictly maintain professionalism and confidentiality during working hours;
Assist Program staff with trainings and workshops; and
Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirement
QUALIFICATIONS
3rd level driving license and outstanding driving record (as evidenced by references);
Knowledge of basic auto repair/mechanics;
Good communication skills;
Certification in defensive driving and First Aid;
Ability to communicate in English; and
At least 3 years experience working as a full-time employee for a USAID supported program.
