General Assignment: The purpose of the position is to define and supervise the implementation of the Food security related ACF project at Hawassa Base.
Responsibility: 1: Promote the comprehension of food security in the intervention area:
Collect and evaluate information on food security and the living conditions of the populations;
Identify the needs of the most vulnerable populations;
Propose how to meet these needs;
Participate actively in developing a food security strategy under the responsibility of the Field coordinator;
Contribute towards the elaboration of proposals;
Act as a link between the different food security actors and inform them of the outcome of the evaluation.
2: Implement suitable food security activities:
Organize, coordinate and supervise the implementation of identified activities in coordination with other departments;
Define implementation modalities (identification and registration of beneficiaries, distribution, monitoring, etc.);
Evaluate the relevance and appropriateness of the intervention in view of the evolution of the context and needs;
Finalize and compile the internal and external activity reports of project;
Finalize the internal and external activity reports in coordination with the logistics department.
3: Supervise the team:
Recruit and train the team members;
Plan and coordinate the team’s activities;
Identify the training needs;
Carry out appraisals of the team members;
Engage in effective team building.

Qualifications/Skills
Level of Studies: Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture /Food Security Animal Science/ Socio Economics/Development Studies and other related/equivalent disciplines with a minimum of three to five years of proven experience, skills and knowledge especially on food security and livelihoods diversification on agrarian context.
Required Skills: Strong communication, analytical and reporting skills/techniques, capable in organizing, planning and coordinating project activities and follow up a team, high level of understanding of Humanitarian working principles and good knowledge in Sphere/LEGES standards – Best in Computer knowledge – Good knowledge of both English and Amharic (read, written, spoken) - Willingness and enthusiasm for working with rural and vulnerable communities in the proposed intervention areas.
