Purpose of the position: The program Director for African Center of Excellence for Women’s Leadership program (ACE) has overall responsibility for the management and guidance of the second phase of the program which aims to strengthen the ACE network made of four organizations from four countries in East Africa contributing towards the goal of “strengthening the emergence of women's leadership as a force for equality, social justice and peace in Africa”.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. IIE may add, change, and remove essential and other duties at any time.
Leadership and Management
Plan, organize, coordinate and supervise the overall implementation of the program to meet the objective of the program
Oversee the design of a monitoring and evaluation system and track changes associated with program through data collection tools and analysis
Provide leadership and guidance to program associate through coaching and building good working team
Together with consultants design the workshop agenda, training modules as appropriate, travel to countries where trainings will be organized over the course of the program
Oversee the logistical travel arrangement of participants for participating in trainings and attendance of consultative regional meetings
Grants management
Responsible for the overall financial management of the program and oversee the proper utilization of budget through quarterly comparison of budget with actual expense as well as cash flow forecast
Oversee the timely receipt of both financial and narrative reports from partner organizations and provide guidance in compiling
Oversee the timely submission of quarterly financial requests as requested by the finance department.
Relationship building
Build optimal level of relationship with the donor, partner organizations, consultants and other CSOs both local and regional
Build partnership as appropriate and seek coordination and collaboration with other women led networks, UN agencies and the African Union commission to strengthen regional impact of the program
Resource mobilization
Mobilize donors to become involved with and informed about the program over the life of the program with the ultimate goal of graduating the program to other donors
Follow up call for proposals through online searching and other sources and contribute to the Business development goal of IIE SSA office
Develop concept papers and project proposals together with Regional Director for the possible extension of the program and mobilization of new funding
Program promotion
Together with the Program Associate and PR officer of IIE, promote the program using online communication tools (website, blog spot, twitter, Facebook, wikispace ) and print publications
Share impact stories, current happenings of the ACE network, of partner organizations to IIE headquarters’ newsletter, annual report publications
Compliance with donor and IIE requirement
Responsible for complying with donor contract and ensure partners’ compliance with contractual agreement with IIE
Comply with E time policy, code of conduct and ethical guidelines, IIE office protocol and all other applicable IIE Global policies and procedures
Responsible for timely compilation and sharing of report to donor organization based on the signed contract

Job Requirement
Education/Experience:
Undergraduate degree, Master’s a plus, and at least 10 years of demonstrated experience in professional environment out of which 5 years is in leadership and management
Experience with program management, including donor mobilization, monitoring and evaluation in international women’s development work
Personnel management experience
Skills required:
Ability to organize and process a heavy workload and constantly changing priorities and tasks and strict deadline
Ability to focus on detail and a strong commitment to quality
Cross –cultural sensitivity, international awareness, experience, perspective and ability to work cooperatively with others
Ability to travel extensively within designated local region
Excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills
Fund raising and proposal development skills
Ability to network and collaborate with women focused networks and UN agencies
Outstanding written and spoken English skills; Proficiency in Amharic
Knowledge Microsoft office 2010; internet software and social media applications a plus
