The Inclusive Education Specialist will be responsible for overall Inclusive Education/Special Needs activities for READ TA project. S/he will direct Inclusive Education/Special Needs activities supporting the achievement of READ TA goals in a manner that is constant with sound management principles.
JOB FUNCTIONS: • Participate in READ TA discussions and Annual Work Plan reviews to ensure the needs of all persons with special needs are adequately addressed in activities, guidelines, textbooks, power points, etc. • Mobilize, train and provide on-going technical support to technical staff on Inclusive education/Special Needs, focusing on how to design and implement their programs in an inclusive manner • Examine program implementation and assess improvements based on lessons learned, best practices, technical advances, etc. • Develop tools to enhance inclusive awareness-raising and mainstreaming to Provide advice on strengthening M & E of inclusion • Support Inclusive education/special needs capacity development processes including identifying capacity building needs and providing training to staff, beneficiaries, stakeholders, and Partners • Ensure technical resources on Inclusive education/Special Needs are available to READ TA staff • Prepare documentation on READ TA inclusion best practices and lessons learned and disseminate among staff • Plan field visits to review programs and build staff capacity in inclusion
Job Requirement
Qualifications and experience: • MA/BA Degree in Inclusive Education, Special Needs or related discipline • Courses in inclusion, gender, women’s studies, or human rights desirable • Minimum 4/2 years of experience at the national or international level • Hands on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects and programs • 4/2 years of experience in dealing with issues of inclusive education/special needs within educational systems, agencies or international systems • Fluency in English • Experience in mentoring desirable • Familiarity with Capacity Development Approaches • Evidence of leading implementation on new systems and affect staff behavior/attitudinal change • IT experience in MS Word
