Save the Children is the world's leading independent organization for children.
Our vision is a world in which every child attains the right to survival, protection, development and participation. Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.
Harmful Traditional Practices (HTPs) are a long standing part of the social and cultural fabric of Ethiopia. These practices have blighted the lives of Ethiopians for generations, and in particular caused untold life-long suffering for women and children. Many of these practices are performed upon children at a vulnerable age and cause traumas that follow them throughout their lives. Among these, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is one of the gravest and most deep-rooted HTP in Ethiopia. FGM comprises all procedures involving the partial or total removal of the external female genitalia or any other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons.
In response to this, Save the Children and Norwegian Church Aid have, with and through more than 21 partner organizations, implemented a joint program entitled: “Accelerating change towards zero tolerance to female genital mutilation in Ethiopia” for the last four years (2011-2014) and promising results have been registered in the intervention areas. There are also various lessons learnt and good practices worth documenting from the program. This call is therefore to hire an experienced and competent consulting firm for doing the job of documenting lessons learnt and good practices experienced during the implementation of the program through the years.
