The Protestant Agency for Diakonia and Development is an international NGO, and a member of the Action by Churches Together Alliance. It supports food security, health and education projects implemented by local Church based and secular partners in Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan. The organization hereby invites qualified applicants to apply for the following position.
Reports to: Head of Finance and Administration, and Program Coordinator Duty Station: Addis Ababa with international travel as required
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Program Finance and Compliance
Conducts and documents financial reviews of funding applications, including budgets, financial reports and funds release requests,
Reviews and checks the accuracy of all supporting documents from implementing partners financial expenditures against implementation plans and levels of compliance with the Protestant Agency for Diakonia and Development and donor grant requirements,
Follow up project financial reports are submitted by partners in a timely manner as specified in the Cooperation Agreement,
Participates in closely monitoring partners’ budget and contracts,
Assists in reviewing of partners financial and audit reports,
Participates in monitoring of recommendations arising from financial reviews,
Ensure compliance with organizational and third party procedure,
Ensures up-to-date, complete and accurate maintenance of all financial,
Conducts training for implementing partners on organizational regulation and standards,
Conducts field and monitoring visits to the implementing partners ,
Participate in capacity assessments of existing a new partners
Accepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
2. Office Finance Management
Assists with compliance of office polices, plans and procedures,
Assists in identifying risk areas; analyzes and provide recommendation for mitigation,
Assists in controlling the office cash balance, records of all entries including payments and advances,
Conducts bank reconciliation on monthly basis or more frequently as required,
Prepares cash flow position and ensure that funds are properly handled and accounted for,
Reviews payment requests for completeness, proper authorization, compliance with policies and procedures, reasonability of costs, as per generally accepted accounting practices,
Reviews financial documents and administers encoding into the system,
Assist in preparing of relevant documents for audits,
Carries responsibilities for the administration and archiving office finance documents,
Accepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirement
Required
BA Degree in Accounting and Finance from recognized University/College and full qualification of professional course in ACCA or CPA is must
Desired
Diploma or Degree in Information Technology Systems or Information Communication Technology from recognized University/College
Experience
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in International NGOs
Working experience on grant management programmes.

Excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills
Demonstrated analytical skills and knowledge of computer based accounting programs (Peachtree and Microsoft Office)
Excellent English and Amharic communications skills, both verbal and written is required (other languages are plus)
Strong financial management and accounting skills and ability to work independently, solve problems and follow-up with minimum supervision
Enjoys working in teams and with international people of diverse backgrounds
