Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Medical Education and Training, the Training Advisor will provide overall direction and technical support in the planning and implementation of in-service training activities required to support Columbia's HIV/AIDS care and treatment programs in Ethiopia, in coordination with MOH and other partners.
Duties and Responsibilities • Support RHBs to undertake in-service training needs assessment on continuous basis in the areas of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment
Provide technical assistance to FMOH to facilitate smooth implementation of IST and continuing professional development
• Assist RHBs in the development of in-service training action plans • Assist RHBs in the development/updating of in-service training SOPs. • Oversee the in-service trainings supported by CU-ICAP in Ethiopia including ICAP supported Universities • Oversee in-service training across the different technical units • Design and deliver need based in-service trainings Participate in the preparation of national and regional in-service training materials Assist FMOH training unit in the review of training packages for meeting the standards • Oversee training organized and conducted by the Federal HIV/AIDS Prevention & Control Office, Regional Health Bureaus, and Health facilities
Design training follow-up strategy
• Oversee the capacity building process to RHBs, IST and Universities to undertake trainings Support RHBs in monitoring and evaluating quality of in-service training • • Consolidate all training data by regions and thematic areas and prepares periodical reports • Support RHBs in identifying master trainers and in developing TOT pools • Support RHBs in consolidation, analysis and dissemination of training data Assist FMOH, RHB and IST centers to have a training data base • Works closely with RHBs to ensure on availability of training materials and other logistics
Provide technical assistance to IST centers so that they have the capacity to carry out various trainings Supervise and provide regular support, guidance and mentoring to regional training focal persons identified within each RHB and IST centers
Maintain strong working relationships with counterparts in RHB and training institutions, practice sites, government authorities and other stakeholders;
Assess the ongoing needs in both technical assistance and material supplies and work to meet the needs either using ICAP resources or by coordinating and leveraging support from other parties
Work jointly with the RHBs to coordinate planning and scheduling of activities and ensure that logistical support is available for the smooth implementation of events and activities
Participate in the development of work plans, implementation and training plans, quarterly reports and other program deliverables;
Monitor program outputs and results related to IST and work closely with program and monitoring and evaluation staff to ensure that these are documented and reported accurately. Compile additional documentation like case studies when necessary
Promote communication for creating a learning environment across ICAP and ensure sharing of such information and knowledge
Identify programmatic successes, challenges and lessons learned, and document these for internal use, and external audiences;
Undertake other related activities as advised by the line supervisor
Job Requirement
Required qualification and experience • BSc/MPH or MD in health or related field with five years or above of experience
Have experience as training advisor
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates associates, other department directors and managers and external bodies. • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. • Good communication skills in English language • Basic computer knowledge • Good interpersonal skills
