Length of Contract: Until December 31, 2014 with possible extension upon satisfactory performance
Job Description: The IYCF Officer has the responsibility to ensure high quality IYCF activities, closely coordinated and integrated with the agricultural activities of People In Need’s “Integrated Programming for Improved Nutrition” project. The IYCF Officer ensures PIN’s activities fit within the framework of the National Nutrition Programme and ensures good relations with local stakeholders.
Main responsibilities:
Design IYCF activities (elaborate proposed activities, time schedule, establish the system for M&E)
Ensure an excellent working relationship with partners, local government and HEWs.
Design training modules for different target groups
Conduct and/or coordinate trainings for hospital staffs, HEWs, VHPs, SSHC facilitators, Agricultural Extension Workers and other Kebele/Woreda-level based stakeholders.
Supervision of activities at community level: community conversations and focus group discussions, community conversations and general community meetings
Coordinate and build the capacity of community facilitators or field officers
Adhere to all donor’s and PIN’s guidelines and policies
Preparation and submission of internal reports

Qualifications and requirements:
Bachelors or equivalent degree in Human Nutrition, Public Health, Public Nutrition or similar Development Studies
Substantial experience of community-based nutrition projects
Experience or knowledge of the Positive Deviance approach would be preferred
Excellent analytical, facilitation, team work and interpersonal skills
Excellent written communications and experience of producing high quality training guidelines.
Strong organizational and project management skills, and ability to deliver within tight deadlines
Excellent knowledge of spoken & written Amharic and English. Fluency in Sidamigna/Gedeo will be an advantage.
