Responsibilities
The Advisor, RE Market Development will support the program office in the day to day activities in the development and promotion of Market Development for RE technologies in general and solar technologies in particular. Specifically, in planning, implementation and monitoring of RE Market Development activities to which S/he is responsible as per agreed objectives, outputs, milestones and indicators defined in the program documents. S/he is responsible to establish and build capacity of the region-wide networks of RE technologies market value chain actors in general and solar technology in particular (importers, wholesalers, retailers, producers, BDS providers, distributers, market outlets, suppliers, etc.) from both private and the public sectors.
The incumbent has the following major responsibilities
Facilitating the planning, implementation and monitoring of RE market development processes and activities as per agreed objectives, outputs, milestones and indicators defined in the project documents.
Coordinating the RET market development and technology dissemination in cooperation and collaboration with the federal and regional partners, ECO Departments and Units and Regional Offices.
Maintenance of an overall good flow of communication and information between all involved staff and institutions.
Documentation and sharing of all RE technology development processes, training aids, findings of research and studies for the program/project planning, implementation and knowledge management.
Contribution at the ECO planning, monitoring and evaluation (PM&E) and knowledge management (KM) plans and activities, in collaboration with other teams.
Leading the RE technology market development aspects related, but not limited to solar energy sector.
Within the context of the above mentioned responsibilities, s/he fulfills the following specific tasks in the RE Market Development in ECO
Prepares and implements program/project interventions in a result-oriented and participatory manner by closely integrating efforts with other teams in ECO and partners.
Promotes local production, market and dissemination of improved energy technologies.
Compiles an overview of project/program activities and presents it regularly in team meetings.
Follows up the activities, updates information concerning the progress of the project, documents and reports periodically on the results of the activities.
Takes part in the formulation of project action plans and facilitates synchronization between the planning and budgeting system and with other sections.
Conducts RET demand /market analysis and need assessment of end users through marketing mix (i.e., products, producers, price, promotion, partnerships, packaging, placement processes, people) and prepare report.
Initiates, prepares, implements and documents training, workshops, forums, meetings and other project activities.
Prepares training materials and conduct learning events on market development and marketing for strategic partners, producers, wholesalers, retailers, players in the RET marketing, and technical staff of partner institutions.
Provides business development services for RE technology producers/manufacturers, promoters and marketers for the private sectors.
Establishes smooth communication and interaction with other ECO teams in other fields, relevant people in the public and private sectors.
Establish and build capacity of the region-wide networks of RE technology value chain actors (producers, BDS providers, distributers, market outlets, suppliers, etc.) from both private and the public sectors.
Liaisons ECO with relevant institutions (public, private, national, international, NGOs/CSOs) and represents ECO in meetings, workshops and conferences and other events in consultation with her/his supervisor.
Assists assigned national and international consultants in related fields and as assigned by his/her supervisor.
Provides support in organizational and management queries.
Consults routinely with her/his immediate supervisor regarding project activities.
Contributes to the design, storing, processing and disseminating of information and knowledge products.
Documents and disseminates project experiences, and develops a database of key deliverables and milestones.
Produce progress and professional reports with regard to RE Technology Market Development, focusing on his/her field of operation.
Collects and makes an inventory of achievement of milestones and deliverables, and its effects on the users.
Organizes and maintains the project/program documentation and filing system in consultation with ECO PM&E and KM Units.
Undertakes further job training related to her/his position and duties, if required

Qualification and experience
Minimum of Bsc degree in Renewable Energy Technologies, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and related fields; (some training/expertise in market development of renewable energy technologies has an added value).
Minimum of 5 years work experience in a similar field and position is required.
Fluent in English, both written and oral.
Excellent computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Photoshop, Graphics and others.)
Duration of Contract:
Starting from January 1st to December 31st 2015 with possible extension.
