The Country Business Development Manager is responsible for the exploration and development of new opportunities for collaboration between stakeholders and the MSH-Ethiopia Country Office. Under the guidance of the Country Representative, and in liaison with the Regional Business Development Manager, the Country Business Development Manager will be responsible for the solicitation of funding and supporting the development of funding proposals. S/he will gather information on donor health sector priorities at the country level and share MSH impact with donors. S/he is responsible for the development and management of MSH partnerships with the private sector, other donors and U.N agencies and will support project directors to identify cost share opportunities. The Country Business Development Manager will report to the Country Representative and will have a technical reporting line to the Regional Business Development Manager.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES:
Lead the development and implementation of MSH Ethiopia’s business development strategy
Pro-actively explore Corporate Social Responsibility partnerships and funding opportunities within the private sector, other donors and U.N. agencies in partnership with the Office of Global Partnership, Marketing and Communications
Coordinate and assist proposal teams on proposal development
Maintain positive relationships with actual and potential donors and communicate and advocate for MSH capabilities
Track and analyze technical trends, donor news, and gather information on opportunities for collaboration with Ethiopian stakeholders, other NGOs and funders in the health sector
Provide monthly news brief for the Country Representative, the Country Leadership Team, the Regional Business Development Manager and the Senior Director of Country Presence
Develop and maintain a list of actual and potential partners
Ensure that the Country Leadership Team is actively engaged in developing collaboration with stakeholders cognizant of donor trends and funding opportunities
Support the Country Representative to promote synergistic operations of MSH-Ethiopia projects and implement the Country Strategic Roadmap
Support projects to raise cost share through identification of opportunities in the corporate sector and other initiatives
Participate in workshops, conferences, meetings and seminars to keep up-to-date on changes in health sector funding
Other tasks as assigned and mutually agreed with the Country Representative
Job Requirement
Master’s degree in business administration, public health, management, or equivalent degree with relevant experience
Minimum 10 years of experience working in the development of complex project proposals, resource mobilization and managing donor relations
Significant experience in grants / contracts management and private sector engagement
Experience working with US government rules and regulations required
Experience and knowledge of regulations and policies for non-US donors such as DFID, UN, WB, EU, Gates, etc. preferred
Experience in presenting and communicating results and impact
Knowledge of Ethiopia’s health sector and donor priorities
Strong computer skills and advanced knowledge of spreadsheets
Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal); English language skills required
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a high-intensity situation; good organizational and time-management skills, especially in meeting deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
