The Country Communications Manager works in close collaboration with the Country Representative, Project Directors, and field teams to manage MSH communications activities. S/he will update the MSH communications plan yearly and ensure its effective implementation and monitoring. The Country Communications Manager will evaluate efficiency and impact of the communication initiatives and ensure effectiveness and adequate branding of the projects in line with MSH and donor branding guidelines. S/he will manage visibility events and media engagement in MSH-led activities. The Country Communications Manager will handle both internal and external communications in close collaboration with the MSH Corporate Communications team and Center communications focal points. In addition to the country-wide communications tasks, the Country Communications Manager may perform communications functions for a specific project.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the MSH brand in country and develop communication products to promote MSH visibility.
Develop, update, implement, monitor, and track the communications plan.
Manage MSH visibility events and ensure appropriate media coverage for special events.
Stay abreast of key activities and results among all MSH projects in the country.
Showcase how MSH-led projects complement each other and lead to greater health impact.
Maintain a resource center with up-to-date information on MSH at the country and world-wide levels.
Provide talking points and key messages to the Country Representative and Project Staff for key MSH visibility events and meetings. Prepare pitch notes, support preparation of speeches and presentations including preparing appropriate video clips and photographs.
Present communication updates to Country Representative and participate in Country Management Team meetings.
Provide communications training and mentoring to projects and chair the country communications working group.
Participate in field activities to capture key lessons and best practices.
Coordinate special field visits activities aimed at showcasing MSH impact.
Collaborate with Home Office communications team to disseminate MSH results and updates to a broad global audience. Contribute to the MSH corporate Editorial Calendar. Ensure all communications products are in line with the MSH branding guidelines.
Ensure the country information on the MSH external and internal websites is continuously maintained. Provide updates to MSH intranet and on Friday Forward.
Ensure professional and accurate media engagement of MSH, in coordination with the Director of Strategic Communications in the Home Office
Support advocacy initiatives at country level in collaboration with the Home Office advocacy team.
Represent MSH at communications related activities at national and international level.
Perform any other project duties as requested by the supervisor.
Job Requirement
Advanced degree in communication and journalism with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in communication related activities.
Significant working experience in communication working at the community, regional, national and international levels.
Strong working knowledge of salient communications interventions to document and share organization successes.
Strong media engagement skills and ability to promote MSH visibility to external audiences.
Experience in designing strategic corporate information and communication plans and activities.
Proven ability in the monitoring and evaluation of large corporate communication interventions.
Strong skills and ability to produce high quality promotional materials through field photographs, testimonies and video clips. Experience in using social media.
Strong skills and ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Experience in advocacy, networking and collaboration with other partners.
Ability to work in teams and maintain collegial working relationships with partners, donors and staff.
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
