International Medical Corps (IMC) is a global humanitarian non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering worldwide. IMC Ethiopia has implemented extensive programming in food-insecure areas throughout Oromia, Somali and Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People’s Regions of Ethiopia, since 2003, assisting both refugees and local communities to drive their own sustainable development by capacitating local health and food security structures including staff through technical, material (medical supplies and equipment) and logistical support to provide accessible and appropriate health care and timely responses in the areas of nutrition, mental and reproductive health; hygiene and sanitation as well as gender-based violence (GBV) using community empowerment strategies such as psychosocial support and care, Early Child Development (ECD), Infant Young Children Feeding (IYCF) and community-led total sanitation (CLTS). IMC Ethiopia currently responds to the emergency needs of over 120,000 Somali refugees in three Dollo Ado refugee camps through community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM), hygiene and sanitation, mental health and GBV interventions. IMC Ethiopia works with all actors including government and non-governmental agencies engaged in humanitarian efforts to reduce morbidity and mortality among malnourished children, pregnant and lactating women, women of reproductive age and other vulnerable communities in respective areas of intervention and encourages long-term development. The IMC Ethiopia staff team in the Dollo camps is 175+ total employees.. Donor partners include UNHCR, ECHO, BPRM, WRC and others.
Employee Position Summary This position is professional IT assistant officer position in IMC Ethiopia, and works at the direction of the Senior IT officer but provides IT Support Service to all IMC Ethiopia staff including project offices. The position holder will be the primary contact as IMC Ethiopia IT support help desk to provide timely, customer-friendly, well communicated, responses and status update to users’ support request (on individual computer systems, data/telephone network and all IT related service) by logging and documenting each support provision in hard or soft copy . The position holder will make frequent field site office visit in support of IT needs. Provide a full scale assistance for all IT related tasks as directed by the Senior IT officer.
Main Responsibilities:
Act as the primary contact as IMC Ethiopia IT support help desk to provide timely, customer-friendly, well communicated, responses and status update to users’ support request by logging and documenting each support provision in hard or soft copy using .
Travels frequently to IMC Ethiopia field site offices in support of the field site program for all IT related Tasks.
Assist to perform initial assessment and configuration of all IT related devises and services (Personal computers and their peripherals, printers, scanners, camera, telephones, 3G USB dongles….) assigned by IMC for its individual employee work related task up on change new employment and so on.
Assist in monitoring the network system and detect and act on vulnerabilities to ensure that systems are secure from virus threats and security risks.
Assist in monitoring technology and services in country and advise management on upcoming changes and recommended upgrades.
Assess system utilization in relation to available services and recommend necessary changes.
Assist in assessing, improve implement and maintain a disaster recovery plan that enables restoration of all systems to operational status at all times in all regions.
Provide support on software use by project staff and ensure that any necessary changes or required patches are applied efficiently.
Assist in provide training to IT users on IT use policy, network systems, basic software packages, and other information required for efficient use of information and communication technology.
Assist to ensure all computer systems are maintained regularly, and checks stock for IT related spare parts and report.
Provide support and maintenance of all equipment including printers, photocopiers and scanner for all offices.
Assist to provide technical assistance, supply appropriate specification and evaluate vendor offers when requested by the procurement unit.
Assist to maintain efficient telecommunication services for all offices.
Assist to liaise with suppliers to have hardware/software equipment appropriately maintained and ensure MSH warranty privileges are appropriately utilized.
Assist to maintain network administration, ICT services, and IT standards for all operational areas.
Job Requirement
Skills/ knowledge/Experience required
BSc in computer science or related field.
A minimum of two year experience in IT support services (preferably in provision of Troubleshooting and fault clearing on IT related systems and services)
Training or certification in data/telephone networking preferred.
Other certification is a plus.
A working experience in INGO environment is preferred
