Background African Bamboo is a forestry, wood, and bio-energy Company established since 2012, and is headquartered in Addis Ababa, the Capital of Ethiopia.
The major objective of African Bamboo PLC is to optimize the multi-purpose benefits of bamboo resources in Ethiopia to its fullest by sustainably exploiting parts of the huge Ethiopian bamboo resources, producing compressed panels and decking for the export market, as a sustainable and competitive alternative for the hardwood version of it.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Civil Engineer performs the following duties:
Oversees and coordinates assigned engineering, planning, design, and construction work facilities, involving multiple consultants and contractors
Directs work assignments; ensures adherence to quality, budget and schedules; coordinates the administration & approval of assigned projects & project elements by assisting project director with coordination of the schedule, scope, and budget of assigned project and provides updated schedule information as necessary
Serves as a day-to-day assigned engineer for the coordination and development of plans, specifications, general & special conditions, estimates, schedules and other documentation necessary for advertisement of projects
Supports the review and approval process during the design and construction phase ,including change control
Supports tendering and evaluation activities, including addenda preparation, coordinating responses, briefings/presentations to board members and preparation of staff reports
Coordinates the development & preparation of contract document packages for a variety of construction projects including civil facilities, structural, geotechnical, utility, roadway, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other elements
Reviews civil and systems contract drawings and specifications for compliance with project requirements; compares designs in multiple contracts in order to make sure proper form, fit and function across contract packages
Provides conflict resolution assistance; and identifies equipment component procurement interfaces; manages design support teams during construction working with construction management staff, consultants, contractors and third parties
Managing budgets, approving project drawings and reports, overseeing orders and delivery of equipment, taking care of any changes a client wants to make, resolving problems and ensuring that work is completed on time and within budget.
Plans, develops, negotiates, and administers formal agreements and permits with third parties, including state and local agencies, utilities, and property owners, as required for the delivery of assigned projects
Performs professional level duties in support of assigned engineering design and construction programs; develops and applies design criteria, engineering standards, technical criteria, and quality control and assurance procedures
