Being an employee of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Ethiopia the YEP Centre Administrator is expected to represent NRC in a responsible manner and always act in accordance with NRC’s Code of Conduct.
Main Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the daily management and coordination of Centre Activities effectively.
• Responsible for collecting and registering daily records/statistics at the center
• Responsible for security and logistic issues at the center, including safekeeping and records of all tools and materials at the center and in the various skills’ shops.
• Responsible for the attendance of the teachers and instructors at the center. She/he can give or refuse excuse, and shall keep records of the teachers’ attendance.
• Responsible for the Centre cash box
• Responsible for the continuous supervision of teaching methodology and initiate in-service training of teachers and instructors.
• Responsible for information to and cooperation with the community and relevant authorities
• Responsible for daily supervision of the students, the academic teachers, the skills’ instructors and the activities in the various skills shops, together with the assigned YEP staff
• Responsible for coordination with other Centers in cooperation with the YEP staff
• Responsible for daily supervision of the YEP support staff.
• Deal and report incident in the YEP centers to line manager.
• Form school committee which is more effective in school regulations.
• Ensure chain of command is respected.
• Ensure children with special needs are access to education.
Main tasks:
• Immediately report to the YEP project Officer if a teacher or an instructor does not adhere to the standards of accountability (see the Teachers’ Code of Conduct).
• Participate and contribute in teachers and instructors workshops.
• Take a leading role in the sensitization of the community on the importance of Education/Youth Education Pack.
• Deliver a monthly accountability for the cash box to the Project Officer/Finance
• Deliver a monthly report on the Centre activities and statistics to the YEP Project Officer
• Carry out any other duty assigned to her/him by NRC/supervisor.
Qualifications and Competences
• University Degree in Education management, TVET Education and Training, Business Administration, and related field of study
• A minimum of three years’ work experience with related field
Relevant Experience
• Good understanding of community development and gender, education issues and/or training skills.
• Work experience on forming Cooperatives and Micro and Small Scale Enterprises
• Familiarity of background from Technical & Vocational Education & Training (TVET) programs is a plus
• Relevant work experience in refugee context
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Nuer (optional).
• Excellent communication skills, flexible, readily adaptable to new educational methods and approaches.
• Ability to leave in difficult conditions.
