SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is a non-profit, non-political and non-denominational international organization. At present it has seven children’s villages and affiliated facilities located in different regions of Ethiopia. SOS Children’s Villages provides abandoned, orphaned and destitute children with a new and permanent home.
The SOS Children’s Village Program in Addis Ababa is looking for a competent and able VTC Dean who meet the requirements stated bellow.

Position summary
The Dean will lead the College that is committed to the ongoing development. He/she will provide strategic and instructional leadership and will oversee management of the day to day operations of the College. The Dean of the College provides leadership to the College’s academic and administrative staff. In doing so, he/ she contributes to the College’s overall planning, plays key leadership role in strategic and budgetary planning; partnership development and management, development and implementation of quality management system, development and implementation of operational plan; staff recruitment, development and evaluation; curricular and fiscal management; youth development; trainee enrolment, program review and college accreditation.
General aim of the position
To carry out the professional duties of a college dean as circumstances may require and in accordance with the policies of SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia under the direction of the Education and Training Advisor
Priority tasks & responsibilities
The Dean is accountable for:
Providing strategic leadership for college improvement and development
Ensuring high standards of achievement for all trainees
Ensuring an orderly, motivational and inspirational culture and a strong college-industry linkage where vocational training and healthy relationships can thrive
Ensuring responsive and effective systems and management of people and systems such that all trainees, and staff are well supported
Position Responsibilities:
College Development
Ensures that the college undergoes a continuous development through the process of implementing Strategic Management, including:
Demonstrates ethical and motivational leadership appropriate to the cultural and political context in which the college operates
Leads the development and implementation of SOS children’s Village’s in consultation with the Education and Training Advisor
Demonstrates professional internal and external relations in a way that indicates the college is well managed and in legal compliance with the objectives of SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia, government policy and community norms
Instructional Management
Ensures high levels of trainees achievement and learning through dual training approach
Creates a shared vision among all trainers of skilful delivery
Enforces on-going improvement of training for all staff through a variety of strategies, including:
Employs systematic use of formative assessment data to guide learning support and drive instruction, curriculum, and professional development
Implements curriculum that is aligned with the expectations of the government in general and Addis Ababa TVET Agency in particular
College Culture and Behaviour
Leads the college community in setting high expectations for trainees achievement and behaviour
Ensures the alignment of trainees, instructors, staff, and partners around the college’s values and approach
Introduces trainee support system which addresses trainees’ competencies
Management and Development of People, Systems, and Resources
Leads Trainees Recruitment and Admissions
Community Relations
Maintains effective and strong working relationships with the surrounding community
Serves as ambassador and advocate of the college’s mission, representing the college at local events
Solicits input from the college community about its performance and their needs and opinions.
Job Requirement
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND COMPETENCIES
MA in Educational Planning and Management, MSC in Industrial Technology / MA in Vocational Management or other related fields of study with technical and vocational background preferably
3 – 5 years of experience at managerial/leadership of TVET College/institutions
Demonstrated record of success in the performance of the institution he/she had previously worked.
Served as Dean/Vice Dean for more than 3 years
Served as an Instructor
Knowledge about government TVET strategy, education and training policy
Experience in leading and managing production
HR and finance management skill
Sound report writing skill
Fluent in speaking, reading and writing English, demonstrated experience in establishing college-industry partnership
Knowledge and practical experience in Kaizen and ISO 9001:2008 QMS
Experience as an Assessor
Competent in COC assessment in its profession
Knowledge about charities and societies proclamation and other relevant laws
Expert in machine installation and preventive maintenance is preferable
