The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for promoting the activities of DFAP by producing communications materials, publications, social media, and the EVERY ONE campaign’s website and other promotional materials.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key area: Gather and produce case studies, photography and film to illustrate and promote Save the Children in Ethiopia’s work
Carry out assignments to Save the Children’s programs in Ethiopia to gather case studies, photography and film
Support communications focal points in the different regions to provide program information, case studies, photos, etc
Write, edit and upload case studies, photos and film on activities relevant to DFAP.
Support DFAP team with their communications and promotion needs. Support the Communications Manager in building the communications capacity of staff in regional offices, including advice on SCI’s brand.
Key area: Produce and disseminate external and internal communications materials
Produce communications material on DFAP’s work. Such materials include brochures, leaflets, banners and documentary films to be used for external audiences and Save the Children Members.
Liaise with and brief external consultants, where required, over the production of high-quality materials.
Gather material on DFAP activities and contribute to the quarterly SCI Ethiopia newsletter.
Key area: Support Communications Manager to develop high profile for Save the Children
Support Communications Manager in the delivery of monthly/quarterly core requirements from SCI/Members, and upload onto OneNet.
Contribute to the development of a communications strategy (internal and external), annual plan and communications guidelines (eg, photography and editorial).
Support the Communications and Media/Brand Managers in producing promotional materials for events, media opportunities, etc
Key area: Produce and maintain EVERY ONE campaign communications materials
Regularly (at least weekly) update and develop the EVERY ONE campaign in Ethiopia’s website, Facebook pages, blogs, twitter, etc
Gather statistical data on the activities of the Communications unit of the country office.
Contribute to the development of internal communications, including an EVERY ONE in Ethiopia newsletter, and disseminate internally.
Support the development of key communications materials, including case studies, photos, brochures, leaflets and banners for the campaign.
Provide the central EVERY ONE campaign team in London with news, regular updates and contributions to web pages, publications, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
To be considered for the post, applicants need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English language or English Literature, social development, or equivalent professional experience at the same or similar level.
Excellent English communication skills
Strong computer skills, including in graphics design and Photoshop (or a willingness to learn).
Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner, through words and design.
Highly developed interpersonal skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well with colleagues and beneficiaries from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Willingness to travel to Save the Children’s programs and ability to interview beneficiaries, including children, in a sympathetic and respectful way.
Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
Fluency in Amharic and English.
