JOB SUMMARY: The Private Sector Advisor will serve as technical lead on private sector partnerships as appropriate and be in charge of coordinating the implementation of private sector engagement strategy in program activities to connect youth with labor market. S/he will be responsible to design and support internal and external partnership management structures and ensure field staff and partner organizations establish meaningful relationships with private sector to increase career opportunities for young graduates. As part of his/her major duty, the incumbent will be expected to develop innovative platform and tools to assist youth to search and apply for career opportunities.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Technical support and develop model guidance, templates and tools
Ensure that field staff and partners are supported to roll out the youth employment and livelihood enhancement approaches;
Work with stakeholders to develop systems for increasing job placements, internships, and apprenticeships in a private sector;
Provide technical support to field staff and partner organizations organize/participate on job fairs with private sector.
Develop innovative platform and tools to assist youth to search and apply for career opportunities.
Ensure field staff and partner organizations establish meaningful relationships with private sector to increase career opportunities for young graduates,
Develop training on job seeking behavior, work ethics, and work culture for young graduates.
Create tools or adapt existing tools for entrepreneurship training and job search methods;
Create tools or adapt existing tools for career guidance applicable in the private sector;
Ensure that gender considerations are taken into account;
Conduct routine field visits for monitoring and to provide technical support to staff and partners to link young graduates into private employers.
Collaborate with the Gender Integration Advisor and Youth Education Advisor to ensure an integrated approach;
Work with the MEAL Advisor to develop and implement the M&E plan, the detailed implementation plan, and the beneficiary accountability measures;
Use and disseminate monitoring data to promote organizational learning and to generate required reporting;
Perform other duties as and when delegated by the line manager.
Job Requirement
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Essential:
A minimum of five years of experience in the private sector development
Bachelor degree in an area of social development, business management or equivalent. Specific experience on youth.
A very good understanding of youth education and livelihood and a working knowledge of the program priorities of the Country Office
Experience creating relationships and linkages with the private sector
Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and package in relevant building blocks.
Think and plan strategically, considering POTENTIALS objectives and cultural context
An in-depth understanding of national and international development issues in particular in relation to children and youth
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Fluency in written and spoken English
Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours,
Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
Desired:
Masters degree in an area of social development, business management or equivalent.
Experience with private sector engagement in other countries
