Background
DRC is an international non-governmental organization which provides assistance and promotes durable solutions for refugees and internally displaced people, on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. Under the South Sudan Emergency response in Gambella, DRC’s is engaged in the areas of WASH, Shelter, Livelihoods and Protection. The protection programme covers Child Protection, SGBV, protection mainstreaming and Youth protection/empowerment.
This position will support the overall protection programme with particular focus on protection mainstreaming, SGBV legal awareness, legal protection and capacity building
Purpose
In order to support the protection programming in Gambella, DRC is looking for a qualified national staff with protection experience to work in Gambella town and the refugee camps in the region.

To this end, it is expected that the Protection Team leader will perform the following tasks and undertake the following responsibilities:
Required
· Law degree or other appropriate university degree combined with legal protection experience
· Demonstrated commitment to protecting the rights of vulnerable groups, and to humanitarian principles and standards;
· Experience in Refugee Protection, SGBV and gender issues
· Experience in project management and reporting
· Experience in training, capacity building and community mobilization
· Experience with representation and working with governmental officials and other stakeholders.
· Fluency in written and spoken English and at least one National Ethiopian Language
· Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
· Negotiation, advocacy and communication skills.
· Results-oriented and flexible
· Record of building trust and partnerships.
· Experience working in emergencies
· Able to work in a diverse environment
· Able to work in challenging and demanding environment
Desirable
· Experience working with refugees, asylum seekers, and/or internally displaced persons, preferably on protection-related issues.
· Experience working with an international organization (such as INGOs, UN agencies, diplomatic missions, or the like).
· Experience in developing public awareness material, especially in relation to SGBV prevention issues.
· Ability to read, write and/or converse in Nuer and/or Anuak.
